Now that Michigan is taking the total cumulative weighted GPA, I may be screwed. No one from my school is allowed to take honors/AP classes freshman year, so TOTAL GPA went from 4.6 to 4.3.

There was nothing I could do to get into any weighted classes in my freshman year...nothing. And I only found out Michigan changed its policy after I submitted my app, so there was nothing I could do to explain my school's policy in the additional comments

My total unweighted is still 4.0, however.

So, by some miracle, will Michigan know that my course rigor in my freshman year was limited by school policy and that my total GPA is a function of lower opportunity?

Anyways, first of all, U of M would never use a 4.6 GPA. During the old process, the max it could be was 4.0. Now they use whatever your school gives, and if there’s an UW GPA, they’ll use that.

Yes, the admissions officer should know how to read the high school profile your school sends them. I don’t think of it as a miracle though, more as a job requirement.

Wait, so if they give both a weighted and unweighted gpa, they’ll use the unweighted?

And yeah, I agree I’m being a bit unreasonable here…and I forgot about the profile part. So would be GPA still be ok now (as in as good it seemed before)?

Please stop stressing about stupid things. I can’t even believe this thread. If I was an admissions officer, I would reject people on the fact they stressed out even when they had excellent stats. Please grow a pair and move on.

Seriously. I get that you’re a little worried about getting into a good University and I wasn’t going to say anything, but come on, this is like your 5th thread? Just accept that you’re going to get accepted soon. There are people who actually need help, and pointless threads like these prevent them from getting the advice they need.

agree with blackpen and yosup stressing out at this kind of a level is just immature, especially if your treating a 4.3 GPA like its really bad. What about other students who don’t have a high gpa like you? 4 years of high school should have been about a human being growing up.
