Not So Good News Re: Waitlist

I chatted with my dd's admissions counselor yesterday as Elon is her absolute first choice and we really aren't in a position to deposit elsewhere and then lose that money if Elon comes through with a spot for her. I wanted to try to see if she had an idea when the list might possibly open up to see if it's worth sitting tight until the last minute on her second choice.

FWIW, I was told that given the makeup of this year's accepted students and the rate at which deposits are coming in, this particular admissions counselor thinks they may not go to the waitlist at all this year. Financial Aid packages will go out beginning April 1, and she said sometimes people withdraw their deposits if they don't get enough financial aid. She said this year she's strongly encouraging all of her waitlisted students to deposit elsewhere. Not what we wanted to hear, but at least we know. Makes it that much harder to read the posts here from people who have gotten in but don't want to attend, although I suppose there are kids out there who are in the same boat at the schools my dd has been accepted to.

S2 just sent in the “thanks but I will attending a different school” email so there is one spot! Hope it helps!

Just got our first student off the WL yesterday! She rcvd a phone call last night. Needs to make a decision within 48 hours.

add one more; someone I know was moved from Spring admit to fall…there is definitely movement at Elon right now…

My niece just got off the waitlist and will be attending

A friend from Chicago recently (in the last week?) got accepted off the wait list. White male, B student, selective private school. Good guy.

wonder if the OP was “lifted”? maybe they can post…
