Are they going to the waitlist?

Has anybody heard anything yet?

a few days ago (thats 12/5) a guy called me from midd saying i was admitted off the waitlist, but i wrote to take my name off in the 1st place. i dont know if that means they're admitting ppl from the wl on rollin basis or they simply made a silly mistake

I got in off the waitlist on May 10 and I am very excited to go there!

ella, did you get any finaid?

Actually I got a lot more financial aid than what I was expecting. I still have to take out loans, but it won't be that bad.

Has anyone been rejected off the waitlist?>

I don't think they've sent the final rejections yet, Bellicious. Those shouldn't come until they are absolutely sure they won't take anyone else off the waitlist. We need to wait for the "melt" to be over.

i rejected the waitlist offer, that means there's one more spot in the pool! gd luck people :)

Has anybody else heard? Any internationals, more specifically?

Just got this:

Dear ...:

It may take some time for postal mail to reach you so I am sending this e-mail to let you know the current status of our Waiting List.

Unfortunately, it is now clear that our enrollment is complete for the coming academic year, and that we will be unable to offer any more places in the class to those still on our Waiting List.

This has meant disappointment for many, including those of us on the Admissions Committee. Each of us hoped we might be able to offer admission to a number of the excellent candidates we have come to know, but spaces in the class have been limited.

We have appreciated greatly your continued interest in Middlebury College and your patience throughout this lengthy process. I am certain that you will find success and happiness wherever you have chosen to continue your studies.

Please accept our best wishes.

John Hanson
Director of Admissions

maybe ill receive the same e-mail, too.

i rejected feb admission so maybe they will.

Has anybody else received that letter? Or been accepted off of the wailist the last few days?

I have not as yet....expect it in the mail any day, but wondering if it was just for internationals, or everyone....sounds like it is for everyone, but why haven't they sent it out yet?

Well...a good friend of mine...from my school just heard (7 June) that he had been accepted off the waitlist. Unfortunately he is set on majoring in biomed engineering and has refused Midd's offer since they dont have an engineering faculty. Quite a shame!...would have liked to have joined Midd with a friend. Anywayz...good luck to those still waiting...maybe you will be offered my friend's place. Hope to see you at orientation (Sept 1 if you're an intl student like me)

Cheers!

Is it easier to get in for Feb or just as competitive? I'd almost imagine it would be more competitive. Ah well, i'll find out in the coming months.

I think it is actually easier...because there is less competition. Why...are you planning to apply as a Feb?

I know (and have known since about 6th grade) that between college and high school I am going to thru-hike the A(ppalachian) T(rail). My two idea's are to go South-bound on the AT, meaning i'd start in June (right after graduation) and finish in november (in time to start college in january/february) or I can go North-bound, by starting the April AFTER I graduate, by defering for a year. I'd finish in August, just in time to start College, a year late.

That means that I could end up doing either, and I'm still trying to figure out which plan I like better.

Hmmm...sorry I don't think I can help you with that. All I know is that Middlebury is very understanding if you give them a good reason as to why you're defering. My friend (who's korean) had to defer to do his compulsory military service...and Midd was really helpful about it. They kept sending him copies of the newspapers/news of the latest happenings etc via email...and then they treated him like a hero when he got back. So...like I said defering is pretty easy if you give Midd a good enough reason.

Yeah i'm not worried about that... i'm worried about getting in to begin with.

Well...I don't know about your grades/SATs/ec's/recs etc...but honestly (and I do believe this is true!) if all of the above is above average and your essays are excellent...then you have a great shot at getting in. I do think that the board of admissions at Midd look deeper than grades and standardized tests...and even though Middlebury has one of the highest avg SAT scores of all LACs...I think that the college is looking for people who will fit in, and more importantly, people who will leave Middlebury as all-rounded men and women, not unidimensional (is that even a word?) "nerds" or "geeks" who are unable to fit in to society.
Saying all that...it doesnt hurt to have good/great test scores and grades and all the other rigmarole!
