Not so great as a Freshman, but huge improvements

Basic info:
Male, NJ, Asian

As a freshman, I took 4 honors-level classes (all core), and got a B- in history, B+ in english, B in biology, and A in algebra 2. However, since then, I’ve received final grades of an A in all of my classes since then, and I am a junior about to become a senior. My sophomore year, I took another 4 honors classes & an AP, and this year I took 5 APs (Calc AB & BC, Chem, Macro, Lang, and US Gov’t) and 2 honors, which make up my entire schedule (other than PE). With less than 2 weeks of school left, I should receive straight A’s this year

Next year, I will be taking AP Statistics, AP Physics C (plan on taking exam for E&M as well), AP Spanish, and AP Micoeconomics. I will also be taking 2 dual-enrollment courses with my local community college (Composition 101 & 102 as well as World History), and finally, Multivariable calculus, which is essentially Calc 3.

As for all those other statistics:

Class rank: 30/338 (as of halfway through junior year), (Also, probably due to bad start, was 97 halfway through freshman yr)
GPA (UW/W): 3.67/4.22 (as of end of soph year)
SAT: 2100 R/W/M: 620/700/780
ACT: 33 E/R/M/S: 32/28/36/35 (Not great at reading as you can tell)
AP: Comp. Sci (5), will know other 5 in July

EC’s:
Marching Band- 4 years- Drumline captain for 2 years
Winter Percussion- started my sophomore year, couldn’t do it junior year because of tennis
Tennis: didn’t make team freshman year, JV soph year, Varsity junior year
STEM Club
National Honors Society, Spanish NHS (tutor ESL kids in the district in english and math), (will be in Math NHS, hopefully, by next fall as well, want to run for president)

Robotics: only freshman year

As of right now, I’m not completely sure what I want to do yet, but definitely something including mathematics and computers, maybe business too. Still not even set on what colleges I will want to apply to, but here are some possibilities:

Carnegie Mellon
Columbia
Rutgers (New Brunswick)
UC Berkeley
UMich Ann Arbor
UPenn (Maybe, a lot of my friends [who have better test scores/UW GPA than me] have already set their sights on this school as an ED)
Georgia Tech
Stevens Institute of Technology

Be honest and as brutal as you want! Thanks!

If you had a bang-up junior year, your cumulative UW GPA should be higher than 3.67. If that is the case, except for the two Ivies, these schools are all quite possible. The Ivies are more of a reach, and realistically, your SAT is a little low for them. With a modest improvement in your SAT, you become a competitive candidate for the Ivies, too.

My GPAs both weighted and unweighted, were updated the end of my sophomore year. My counselor only told me my class rank this year, and not my mid-year GPAs, so it is definitely higher right now

berkeley is a reach for most people, as are the ivies, but you’re pretty well qualified for the other schools you listed. for ivies and berkeley, you can increase your chances with strong essays and recs, and by upping your SAT score. i’d also recommend taking math/science related SAT subject tests to further your chances.

@sahar1811 Awesome! I actually took SAT Chem and Math Level 2 today, and plan on taking another SAT in October, taking the summer to do more prep.
