I wish there was a sticky for this type of thing.

I have a ACT of 24 and a high school GPA of 3.00 or 3.1* I picked three schools to apply to
mills college, UC Merced and Colorado state university. Um...I only got into the last one, is that school considered a safety. Should I apply to more competitive schools, since I took the SAT subject test to try and get into Merced ( nothing went right with that application), I mean I'm just sitting in these test with no use for them.

I don’t know what would be wrong with CSU. It’s a school that students love in a spectacular setting, and Fort Collins has been named the best place to live in America. Unless you’re out of state and can’t afford it, CSU would be my choice out of the three you named.

It can only be a safety if you know that you have the money to go there?

Are you a Colorado resident? If not, then it will cost about $35,000 to go there. Will your parents pay $35k for you to go to Colorado State? If not, then it’s not a safety for you.

Academically safe, as in not so competitive. I’ve never seen anyone on CC talk about wanting to go there. I’ve only seen topics on ivies, UC’s, Stanford etc. I don’t talk to much on CC because I don’t have much in common with people who are trying to go to those schools. I never took any honor or AP class, my GPA isn’t that high and 24 ACT plus two 620 on my subject test is not in the super score category.

I don’t live in the state I already know how much it’s going to cost. I know Colorado is nice but I really wanted the warm weather.
