Not taking 7 classes as a senior?

This is my current schedule for next year:
0 Chamber Choir (weighted)
AP Physics
AP Calc BC
Concert Choir
AP English
AP Gov/Econ

I had originally wanted to take AP Statistics as well, but my counsellor just notified me that there is no space left in the class and as I already had a math course, I was removed from the class. Is the fact that I'm only taking 0-5 going to look negative on my application?

Might or might not, depends on the college. Have you had a free period as a junior before? If so you should have a full schedule as a senior this upcoming year. I had 3 free periods as a junior last year. I came from a 4 by 4 schedule school and was done with the core classes when I moved to the traditional six.so colleges might think I’m lazy

The general rule for top tier schools is you want to maintain 5 core classes - you have four. You have four solid AP level classes, which is great, so just pick up a non-AP core class and you’ll be fine. A foreign language would be ideal, but if you’ve already gotten to Level IV, any core will do, just as long as it’s not too “fluffy”.

I have already completed Spanish 4 and have already taken all of the science courses at my school. (ap Chem, ap bio, and ap physics as a senior) I self studied psych and apes the previous year so there’s really no point in retaking the class I feel. I had a 1-6 schedule the previous year as well.

It’s possible you may have run out of classes, and that would be perfectly legitimate, just check with your GC to make sure they’re okay with it and can give you top marks for taking the most difficult schedule.

There is no “general rule of thumb” because every school is different. Talk to your guidance counselor. For my daughters school, students had 5 classes and only 2 were year long for all students. They changed the three other courses quarterly. The administration wanted students to get engaged in problem based classes rather than just sitting in one class for a year reading a few classics and writing about it. So it really depends on what the school permits and what policies are. So go talk to your counselor.
