Not taking APUSH

Hi! I’m a junior this year and after being in class for a few days I realized that I couldn’t handle all of the work required for APUSH on top of my other classes as that class and AP Lang are the most labor intensive classes at my school. I ended up dropping the class and stepping down to American History Honors. Will dropping APUSH affect my chances of getting into a good college? (UNC is my dream school and I’m instate) The other AP class i’m taking this year is AP Lang, and my senior year I plan on taking AP calculus, AP literature, AP Psych and APES. My current GPA is 4.0 unweighted, 4.5 weighted. Thanks!!

Maybe, maybe not. A lot of colleges are very random in how they choose applicants. Dropping one AP class out of the 6 you were taking shouldn’t make too much of a difference. After 6-8 APs your chances of getting into a good college won’t get any better. As long as you can push yourself appropriately in terms of workload while keeping a 4.0 you should be fine.
