Not taking math senior year?

Hi everyone! I am currently a junior forecasting for my senior year and I am debating whether or not to take math. I am currently taking pre-calculus and would take AP calculus AB next year. The reason I hesitate to take math is that I am planning on majoring in international relations and would rather take more electives in that field since they are more relevant to my future. I plan on applying to American University ED this fall and am curious to see if anyone knows more about their math expectations. I know they require 3 years but I hope that this won’t be a deciding factor for them in my admission decision.

@westview27 My DS also stopped at pre-calc his junior year. He is a CLEG major (SPA) and was accepted ED this year. He had 4 units of Math - Geometry, Algebra 2, Trig and Pre-calc. I’m assuming you have at least 3 if not 4 with pre-calc. He did take AP Physics and AP Microeconomics which have some math components his senior year. As long as you are applying ED, I think you will be fine. I would not recommend this for an RD candidate. Although his friend was accepted to both AU & GWU RD with 3 math units and without pre-calculus or calculus. However, he’s an amazing essay writer with high stats.

You don’t have to take calculus but do take math (statistics?)

My son started out as an international studies major at AU (changed to Political Science, is a junior) and he took AP Statistics his senior year of high school, after Algebra II and Trig as a high school junior.
