When I was getting ready for college I told myself I would do a few things while in community college. I said I would maintain a 4.0, and try to get involved with the school as much as possible, the only problem was that I was afraid that I would not have the connections to get involved...Well the time came and now I am skeptical about it, I don't feel as motivated and not sure if it will really help me. What should I do?

Also I promised to do well in school and the thought of getting lower than 4.0 never crossed my mind (since I took 12 units of GE's with 4.0) and now I have the "easiest" english teacher and I have not read the book (for which we had to take surprise quizes which I did bad on)...and we had an in class essay where I got a C...and when we were able to revise it (to easily get an A) I did it last minute with no effort whatsoever.

Also I failed my first Calculus test because I did not know what to expect, but I have not been studying since the test last week. (lowest test dropped though)

Any advice?
I want to transfer to USC or UCLA and I'm losing hope.
I also have plently of time at school but I lay back and do nothing.

Um... the problem is yourself. You need to be motivated and meet up to what you promise yourself. No one else can help you. You failed because you didn't study, well then study. You got a C because you didn't read the book, then READ the book. It doesn't matter if it's lowest grade dropped or their are opportunities to fix your bad grades, you still need to want to do good in all of them so you can improve and get yourself in the habit of continuing to do good.

Uh, isn't it obvious? Stop doing nothing.

By the way, saying something is different from doing it. You said you wanted to get a 4.0, but that doesn't mean you'll get it. Stop dreaming and start working.

Let me PM you my e-mail address so that you can e-mail me your homework daily. I'll do it for you for free then I'll make you lunch and pep talk you after dinner. Everything is going to be so terrific! See you at USC!

Aww I thought this thread was about girl trouble. Oh well.

Oh and to be relative to the OP, just stop going to college and work for a semester. Then re-evaluate your situation, and see if you want to be where you are for the rest of your life or if you want to take the pain of going to school and try something else.

Think about failure, that should motivate you.

Also, pick up a book or two about successful leaders. I am currently reading "The Smartest Guys in the Room," which is about the Enron scandal. Although what happened was tragic, the leaders of Enron are truly inspirational.
