Not your ordinary "chances" blog... please read =]

fracasar, did you already get in?

SouthernStudent - "White = Not a minority"

wow... duh, i know i'm not a minority, just underrepresented (stictly rural county known for its poverty)

but thanks for letting me know that whites aren't minorities =]

Maybe I misenterpreted your first post. But you definitely said "considered URM" which I assumed the 'M' stood for Minority.

If you meant it to just state that you were from an underrepresented county, than I am sorry your phrasing confused me.

Yes, I'd say it would give you a Slight advantage, but you'll still need the academic qualifications.

Yes, I got in ED with a likely letter.

Yeah... I hope 3/200, 1260 SAT (big increase from when UNC originally saw it), solid essays, awesome athletics, and hardest courseload avalible @ my school, and great ECs, communnity service, summer programs all contribute to my regular notification decision.

Overall SAT went up 200 points, grades were GREAT... so i guess only thing that might look a little sketchy is SAT (but its highest at my school and almost the whole county =/ )

Yeah Southern, i think we just got mixed up a little bit in our communication. I sry =] No problem though

Later guys,

Josh

I thought I'd chime in even though you have plently of responses. I'm from Mitchell county, another poor, rural county in NC. We usually have 1 or 2 people accepted to UNC each year. I am one of 2 from my senior class. I think you have a very good chance with the new SAT. Though my SAT was higher (1460), I had a low class rank (9/160) and was still accepted. Also, most of the people who were accepted from my school in the past had SATs in the 1200-1300 range. Good luck!
