Notification about Fall 2007 Housing Assignments - When?

Woww...manzy??

I have actually been in Manzy at about 1 in the morning...and it's crazy!
It's nicknamed the '14 floors of whores' because it's pretty...well yea.
It's really up to you though. If you want to live it up, have an intense year full of partying, then that's great! You can always go to the library to study.
I only requested south campus housing because I want to study eventually haha.

But if that's not your forte...I would definitely try to get reassignment when the letter comes.

As for cholla...those are the apartment-style dorms that are actually only given to upper-classmen during the year. I hear they are pretty chill..where people usually just lounge around and such.

The student services woman emailed me back today, and I am now officially placed in Hayden.

Did she happen to say when the housing assignments will be mailed?

It was weird, she said that they would be mailed in July...but that may just be for me because I was told what dorm I'm in.

Sorry.

Christalena2, good for you! I'm glad you were able to pull off the dorm switch. Your original assignment didn't make sense, especially since you applied so early.

Yea I know....thanks!

It's so weird, I actually like the idea of community bathrooms more than suites...kinda weird, yea, but I like the idea of not having to clean...and not having to worry about someone puking in the single toilet shared by four people (in a community bathroom, youve got plenty to choose from). And the ratio isn't that different. Probably around 25 people with 5-6 stalls...and four people for 1...

It's really getting annoying having people try to lecture me on why I should have a suite-style bathroom...I like my choice.

Christalena, I agree with you on the bathrooms. Community bathrooms are not bad at all -- and they are cleaned often and can't be hogged by one person as often happens in the suite style bathrooms. I don't think they should discourage anyone from chosing a dorm that is otherwise better all around for them.

Thanks! Yea, it's just my friends and everything.

I mean, there are pro's and cons to every situation, so Ill just live with the cons, and enjoy the pro's.

Looks like we have to apply to a completely different meal program. The meals seem kinda weird to me, seeing as you can only use them at three places.

What do you mean by your last reply? I thought you could use the meal plans at any of the cafeterias, which would basically mean the memorial union for us.

It says in the brochure that the actual meal allowances (like 265 per semester or whatever) can only be used in the residential restaurants, which are the Hassayampa dining hall, the manzy dining hall, and the pitchfork restaurant. M&G can be used everywhere else that's listed including the restaurants. So, I really don't get the idea of buying 'meals' for only three places when you can use the M&G as well. So, it makes more sense to just buy M&G rather than meals when you can add on money to the account.

Last school year you could use meals at certain places in the MU, like Chick-Fil-A, on certain items that changed on a day to day basis. I don't know if it's going to be the same since a new food company is taking over campus dining.

yea it's brand new. At first, we applied for the original meal plan, but I just got a brochure for the new one this week.

Ugh! So, I was told through email confirmation from the BHC that I would be changed to HAYDEN. I look at my ASU charges today, and I'm in BEST.

What is going on?!?!?!

Oh well, as long as it's honors...Ill take it.

I received an email today saying I was currently placed in one of the newer Hayden halls and also that the new meals can be used at some places besides the cafeterias like burger king. Pitchfork's is in the student union anyway, what's the problem with that?

What's the problem with what??

I'm just saying, that having a designated amount of meals that can only be spent in certain areas is a type of scam. Even M&G dollars can only be spent at certain places, but are still limited. I just don't like the idea of a meal plan...why not just spend the cash??

Oh, and, did you just receive the email out of nowhere? Or did you email and they respond?

Well, from what I remember you end up spending less money by using meals than with M&G or cash, so that's an advantage. Although I think I remember you saying something about snacking throughout the day, so a meal plan probably wouldn't work too well for you.

I finally emailed Michelle Hollin about housing/meal plan and so received the information from her.

I got a letter a few days ago from ASU which showed my tuition costs it listed Palo Verde Main as my dorm. Apparently they sent out your roommate info on Friday so everyone should received a letter next week.

I received my Roommate info today. It's a huge packet with lots of brochures and random sheets along with the info. Some of my friends have gotten their info, but the roommate listing is not available, and somebody from Res Life said that usually means someone has opted not to release their info.

I'm in Best C, which is one of the newer ones, yay!
