Notification of UFE

*I was wondering if the students room together and the parents find their own accommodations or what? Mom? *

I’m guessing that UFE does the same that CBH does (or has done in the past).

Students are paired up 2 kids to a room (2 beds in each room)

Parents make their own reservations and pay for them, too. So, book NOW.

Parents often enjoy meeting in the hotel’s bar/restaurant at night for chit chat.

On a wild “maybe she’ll get lucky” i just checked Hotel Capstone and it showed no availability for Feb. 19-20… called too, all booked. He recommended a Hampton Inn at 205-553-9800. I’m not going to jinx anymore, just going to sit by quietly…

AL34 Post #233:
Thank you for your suggestion. I am a parent & an acquaintance of other parents with students in the Honors College who are also University Fellows, so it might be a bit awkward for me to ask an acquaintance to ask their child to participate on an internet forum; and, based on the type of responses that I have received on this thread, I would not do so. This has evolved, at least from my perspective, as a matter in which my original inquiry is now of secondary importance.
P.S. My Honors College contact at the Univ. of Alabama recently retired after heading the program for a number of years.

do parents normally come for the weekend? I know it will be impossible for mine, so can I go alone?

Rocket…

Many kids come without parents. I remember watching the airport transport van pull up and seeing just kids piling out.

Many parents don’t come because of they have to pay for their own hotel.

thanks mom2…
ugh…my dad is supposed to text me if there’s any mail…
fingers crossed super hard(I just want to know at this point…bad news is better than no news)

I am so hoping that you get invited!

:)

My son got his rejection letter today, so hopefully those of you waiting for finalist letters will receive them today also. The letter was very supportive. It said they had over 500 applicants this year! My son is happy to be part of the honors program, just keep your fingers crossed that we will get some additional support for him to attend!!

I was officially rejected. I honestly feel better now that I know at least, and I know I will still have an amazing experience at UA with all that the Honors College does for its students. Best of luck to all who got invited back! And crossed fingers for all those (like me) still waiting to hear from CBH as well

Sorry to hear about the rejections. :(

But, yes, you’ll still have a great experience at the school. :)
Be sure to look into the many other leadership opportunities at Bama.

I wonder how many UFE kids got phone interviews?

i haven’t gotten anything yet, but i’m assuming my rejection is in the mail. i have qualified for some other fabulous scholarship competitions elsewhere, though. good luck to all of you semifinalists, esp. r6l.

Son did not make cut for UFE - still hoping for CBH

still waiting for the rejection - getting it will reinforce that DS is at least in the system correctly. The long wait for the Honors letter kind of freaked us out about that.

^^^

Why do you think your son’s not in the system correctly? Has he gotten his scholarship notification?

I wonder if there was a delay in getting the honors college’s letters out because they were figuring out what honors classes are going to be offered next fall, since that schedule was recently put up.

I got my finalist letter! Good luck to everyone else!

Congrats!!!

:)

Haven’t heard back yet, either way, in Louisiana

Have you guys checked your Crimson mail, too. I don’t know if they also sent emails.

^ no real reason, just paranoid. DS got two entire sets of everything (acceptance, scholar letter etc), so I guess he’s got to be in there somewhere! :)

I haven’t heard anything either, from my regular email or crimson email. This is weird.
