Notification of UFE

Congrats SirBumpy

you’re on the facebook group for Fellows right? If you are I’m about 95% sure of who you are

I’m really hoping for good news, but I’m sooo nervous

So, does it look like OOS NMF & OOS Presidential scholarship students got the Dr. Halli letters?

I find it hard to believe that Dr. Halli would have time to write personalized letters to 500+ kids who would be NMF or Presidential scholars. There has to be some reason why some kids received letters. It’s also possible that more letters will be sent. If Dr. Halli is writing a lot of personalized letters, I don’t see how they could go out at the same time…It would seem like they would go out in waves.

There must be some reason why some kids are getting these. The director of scholarships told me that over 12,000 applicants qualified for scholarships. If 500-1000 qualified for NMF/NA/NH and Presidential scholarships, it’s unlikely he could write that many personal letters.

My D also received a letter from Dr. Halli dated Feb. 15. He mentioned both her planned major and minor. She has yet to have an official visit to the Honors College, although she is there now and planning to attend the honors day tomorrow. She applied for Fellows, but wasn’t a semifinalist and she is neither NMF or Presidential, but is OOS.

She was actually joking about the fact that it was probably a form letter, but after reading the previous posts, it sounds like it was a personal note, although she has not had the benefit of meeting any of the Honors College staff yet. Dr. Halli mentioned that Dr. Sharpe has “shared her application with him”.

Sounds like there is no rhyme or reason to who received the letters. Hopefully she will have the opportunity to meet some of the great staff tomorrow.

My letter talked specifically about working with him to get a Truman scholarship…so maybe that’s why some of us got them?

^ wow Rocket! that’s something :)

Congrats, sir! We are so proud of you!

So, is it looking like only OOS students got these Halli letters?

If so, it’s still odd because he can’t send them to every OOS student. I wonder if he’s targetting states where Bama doesn’t have a lot of students.

I’m dddyyyyyyiiiinnngg to check my mail. I think i’m going to text my dad around 3(I’m here tonight until 630) to see if it’s there. If the letter’s at home, I’m going to make him drive it up to the school :D

Rocket…I have all my fingers and toes crossed for you!!! :)

thanks mom2…!!!

Are these letters coming only to potential UFE and CBHP students?

^^^

That’s what I first thought, but some “non-finalists” seem to be getting them, too. It seems like the recipients have been OOS honors students. I also wonder if OOS students from particular states are getting them.

It’s unlikely that they would be mailed at the same time if they are being personalized.

I don’t know if any in-state kids have received them.

^ I don’t know about them not being mailed together - DSs’ was dated Feb. 15 and just got it last week so seems they may have held them until all were written - just guessing but otherwise why did it take so long to get here?

True…

Has any in-state kids rec’d Halli letters?

no letter here (instate)

ughh…I think i am the ONLY person(or at least it seems like that) who hasn’t heard back from Fellows. I haven’t heard of a single person getting a “no” so I’m getting super worried…

I mean, I know my mail is notoriously slow(everyone else got their invitation days ahead of me), but it’s really starting to worry me

EDIT: Just referenced this board. Everyone else got invitations 2 days ahead of me. SInce no one got mail before Saturday, it’s technically only been 1 mail day…so I’m really hoping for tomorrow

I haven’t heard back from fellows either and I am really worried about it!! However, for the record, I am an in state student and I received a Dr. Halli letter.

The mystery lives on…

I did get my fellows acceptance today! It is very exciting. I’m sure, for those of you who haven’t gotten yours yet, they will come soon.

I was talking with a current fellow on fb and he said that there are (he believes) 41 students who have been invited to join fellows. Just thought I would throw that out there for those of you who are curious.

I also have a few friends in the same state - but different part - as me who have not received their fellow letters yet, so you shouldn’t worry about it too much.

Good Luck.

hmmmm…he thinks 41 students have been invited to UFE this year. How many were at the weekend? 60? Less?

It was actually a bit over sixty if I am rembering it right.
