Notification of UFE

So, are you saying that either way, kids got emails today…either with good news or bad news for UFE?

I don’t know if EVERY kid got one…but I know we both got one…one good and one bad

Ahhh…

It seems like students need to check all their emails, Crimson email, and SPAM folders.

I don’t know if they’re doing it by region, because i’m from Southern California, and I got my email at around 9:30 am, my time.

I feel like I should be more nervous for this interview. Particularly since I’m heavily considering Alabama, so far.

Hi all,

thanks for the update. D hasn’t gotten one either good nor bad on either her regular or Crimson email. She never got the email that everyone else got about getting into the Honors programs either, she just got the letter. We figured it was a long shot anyway, as while she has the stats & leadership, she doesn’t have those massive amounts of service hours.

Congrats to all who will be interviewing!

DD did not get one yesterday - in either regular or bama email. Will have her check the spam folder tonight.

(( juniper, your academic credentials look pretty impressive to me. Don’t sell yourself short just because of what you see here. ))

Krazie … congrats to you, too…

And to all that are getting phone interviews!

OSDad…definintely have your D check spam folder AND crimson email.

Could those of you who were selected as semifinalist list your stats? My son is a HS Junior and is considering applying next year. Thanks.

Catdaddy…

I can’t speak for all of those who seem to be getting selected as semi-finalists, but generally those with ACT 32+ are getting selected.

Those with below an ACT 32 (1400/1600 SAT) need a GC rec in order to apply. So far, I don’t think we’ve learned of any students below an ACT 32 making semi-finalist. However, that doesnt’ mean that there aren’t any. We’ve only heard from a very small number of students.

Supposedly, UFE is more interested in “ability” and leadership, than scores.

What are your son’s stats?

1490 SAT, 4.45 W GPA.

I don’t remember what my essays were about, since I just took essays from other colleges and edited them to fit UA’s prompts. I have a lot of ECs, though.

Oh, and I’m from Southern California.

hmmm, nothing here either way for DS, I guess it was a longshot since his ACT is good enough, high rigor but GPA not as high as most of you all, and I’m sure Eagle Scouts are a dime-a-dozen in such a highly regarded program.
Still, would like to get a “no” email so can stop the waiting.

Congrats to all of you!

Interesting. Just checked Ds spam folders & ua email and nothing. I also checked to see if her UFE app had definitely made it through, which it did. Since she had to wait for the letter for Honors notification, I wonder if she’ll have to wait for a letter for this too.

can anyone else verify that rejection letters are also being sent out?

Nothing here in either email. Good news is no notification this week from National Merit. D has 32 ACT and 4.uw and 4.2 w gpa. Has more performing arts EC than volunteer hours. Although we hosted a former Soviet block country exchange student through the US State dept. That was 10 months of continuous volunteering but may not be looked at that way.

mom2collegekids
Per your question. Sons stats are: 2100 SAT (1460) and 32 ACT, both taken sophomore year will retake this year. PSAT 226. GPA- 3.85 UW and over 5.0 W. Taking all college classes his junior and senior year in HS (special HS program). Eagle Scout, AIME, etc.

^^

Well, it sounds like your child will be NMSF, so he’d get the big scholarship. If he majors in Engineering or Comp Sci, he’d also get an additional $2500 per year.

He’d have a good chance with both UFE and CBH.

What is his likely major?

M2CK - Pre Med, not sure of major yet.

^^^

My younger son is pre-med. His double-major is chemical engineering and biology. Since he declared ChemE as his primary major, he gets the extra $2500 per year. Nice!

since you asked for stats

34 ACT, top 1% of HS class, 4.0uw GPA, 4.2 w, 1000 volunteer hours and lots of ECs with leadership…

i’m hopeful for finalist :)

1000 volunteer hours! Wow! Awesome!
