Notify colleges if I updated the FAFSA?

Is it advisable, even if not required, to notify colleges about an updated FAFSA? In this case, our expected contribution actually went up by $1,000 bc we underestimated our income before we actually filed, a week ago.

We've received packages from two colleges to which my son was accepted, and others tell us the packages are on the way.

Is there any way I can estimate how the package would change (aside from expecting more from us overall if the EFC went up?)

Thanks in advance.

You do not have to tell them that you updated your FAFSA - they will catch the change. It may or may not affect your aid package. Because aid offices are notoriously short-staffed, it can take awhile before the changes are made … so it wouldn’t hurt to contact the aid offices in a few days to find out how much your aid will change, if at all.

Thanks, kelsmom. You truly are a super moderator!
