Notre Dame Chances (I will chance you back!!!)

Hi all,
I'm a freshman at West Chester University in PA. I decided to go there mainly because I am very young (16) and my mother was uncomfortable with the idea of sending me away so early. Anyway, it's a regionally well known public school, but certainly not where I would like to attend long term. I'm currently looking into other schools for next year (fall 2015), most notably Notre Dame (my mom has said she's ok with my leaving the nest at 17). What do you think my chances are?

SAT: 2020

High School GPA: 3.9

College GPA: 3.835

College Transcript: French 201 (got an A), French 202 (A), Computer Science 110 (A-), Macroeconomics 111 (A-), Statistics 121 (A), Linguistics 230 (A-)
This fall I am scheduled to take: Russian 301 Advanced Grammar, Russian 403 20th Century Poetry, Geology 101, Political Science 213, and Intro to Calculus 110. I don't know what I'll take in the spring yet.

Majors: Double Major in Russian and Statistics with a Minor in International Business. Not sure what that would translate into at Notre Dame.

Rec Letters: I'm pretty sure I could get a good recommendation from the director of the Russian department, who also happens to be my advisor. I haven't gotten a chance to get to know any of the other professors, but there will be time for that during this school year.

ECs: Mainly ballet and raising seeing eye dogs. I also work part time at Wawa.

Hey! As im a rising HS senior I do not know much about the transfer app process haha but I will take the challenge. Maybe this will be of some use. You’ve clearly done quite well in all aspects, particularly grades. How do you compare to your classmates at WCU? overall I would say high chance

In comparison to my classmates, I do very well. I tend to be vocal and participate heavily in discussion. I often take charge and lead the class, especially in subjects that I know well (mainly Language classes, Statistics).

Hey! Actually I’m a rising senior in PA too, and was just about to write a “chance me” post for myself as well. Notre Dame is my dream, and I have the exact same SAT score as you. Would you be applying early action or regular? I’m debating between the two. I think you have a good shot! The only thing is the SAT score…it’s a little low but I know Notre Dame isn’t as into statistics as other schools. They’re big on essays and showing that you have a real desire to be there. Are you in college at age 16 already? Hopefully I’ll see you next year at orientation if everything works out for us both and good luck with your college search and applications!

@karajs11‌ I am already a student at WCU. I’ve taken classes there throughout high school and now I am going there full time. So yes, I am in college at 16. I would be applying to ND as a transfer student for the fall of 2015. I apologize for not clarifying that. :)

Wow are you a genius? College at 16, how? Did you skip 3 grades?

You have a pretty good chance overall.

I think you definitely have a chance of making it as a transfer student. Higher SAT also probably wouldn’t hurt either. Good luck!

@learner83, No, I would not call myself a genius lol. I was homeschooled so my education was very personalized and efficient. I just got a lot of work done in a short period of time. I also benefited from having a highly qualified teacher for a mother–she has a Master’s in Teaching.

Anyway, all of that is irrelevant. The important question is whether or not my age would affect a transfer application. Would Notre Dame be more open or less open to accepting me, considering the fact that I am 16?

Oh maybe I should be home schooled too lol cause high school pace can be so slow and you take a bunch of useless electives like Art class

Notre Dame probably won’t care about your age. If they do care its probably a good thing as it sets you apart from everyone else and says that you are a hard diligent worker.

Definitely looks great! I’d maybe see about more ECs but I’ve heard test scores are still 10x important

Your grades and academics look great, but your ECs are lacking a bit. I do think that being 16 will help since it makes you unique. I would say you have a good chance, but I am no professional and am not completely familiar with the college transfer process. If you get a chance, wanna chance me too?
