Notre Dame Class of 2021 EA Discussion

@cyang2021 agree 100%

@collegemomjam , School does not rank, luckily. Just a note, my post wasn’t a chance me. I have naviance for tht. I was just posting for the sake of posting because I feel like I have nothing to contribute rn.

For what it is worth- my gc told me Notre Dame sent school’s an email confirming decisions will b released tonight.

@11kysta, our daughter is in the early pool, defaulted from QuestBridge finalists (she did not match). My husband and I are both NDLS (Class of '91), and he also has a BA. What year did your parent graduate NDLS?

really? i can’t wait!!

I guess ND sent an email that lists some random info and says when things will be released etc. He (my counselor) who also attended ND seemed pretty confident that it was tonight. But he has been wrong in the past.

Did anyone else hear the same thing?

@wwerfgjt hypeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Has anyone else’s GC heard this?
Mine has not received an email and she just called admissions this morning and they said that it would be “by the end of the week”, which would seem to imply not today (though they did not say that directly). Hoping that this is true, but why can they not just make an official announcement of when it will be? This is so stressful…
Also, does anyone know what the portal page shows when decisions are up? Does it just say something like “Decision:” and then “accepted,” “deferred,” or “denied,” or do they personalize it more?
Thanks

I’m really not sure how it works, a parent of a boy that got in last year told me that he received his decision a few days before his friend last year and they both got in. So I guess it’s possible there is no set time and everyone just gets emails telling them to check the portal when their decision is ready?

@collegemomjam I so hope not. That would be an absolutely miserable wait for those at the end of the line…
Previous posts about 6:42pm being the ceremonial release time would seem to indicate that they are, or nearly, simultaneously released, but who knows?

@historiaimperii I’m trying to figure that out. I would assume that it is a little more personalized…maybe like a few paragraphs saying either “Congratulations! I am pleased to offer you admission” or “At this time, there are too many qualified applicants and you have been deferred”…etc. I doubt that they would just say “Accepted”. Hopefully that helps but we will know soon enough.

i beleive they all come out at one time, historically at 6:42 PT. I’ve also heard that the accepted decision is usually accompanied by a picture of the dome that says “welcome home.” However, I haven’t been through this process yet either. This is what I’ve heard.

I have friends who are current students there and they both got in REA last year… they found out at the same time

believe oops

So if it is tonight, we think students will all get an email that is sent at 6:42 pm?

@kaileeko Thanks, that picture would be beautiful to see!
Are you sure that it is Pacific Time, though? That would add three more hours of stress. It does seems like it would be based on Eastern Time, though, since that is, obviously, where ND is and West Coast students would still be out of school by 3:42pm.
Let’s pray that we find out these answers sooner rather than later!

Last year, the decisions may have been posted to the portal at 6:42 pm, but my son’s email from ND was time stamped at 7:06 pm. The first post on CC that someone noted the decisions were in the portal was at 6:56 pm. Who knows how long the decisions were actually in the portal before that. I think most people were waiting on the email before checking the portal. Once one person said the decision was on the portal, everyone else checked and indeed all of the decisions were on the portal, even if you hadn’t been sent an email yet.

All times above were eastern time.

@GraceDad Thank you; that was very helpful information.
Seriously though, has anyone else heard if tonight is the night?

Let’s just call it 23:42 UTC/GMT/Zulu time.

Now it is clear for everyone everywhere!!

[Assuming I am correctly calculating the time zone for St. Joseph County for this time of year at UTC -5.]

Do you think ND coordinates its emails with the U.S. Atomic clock? If not, your emails may hit a few milliseconds off of exactly 23:42 UTC.

Good luck to all!!
