Hello everyone! I created a new forum for those that have been accepted to ask/answer any questions about what happens next for the ND Class of 2025. Feel free to check it out! Notre Dame Class of 2025 - After you've been accepted!
We are anxiously awaiting financial aid packages ? All docs submitted November 1st.
Will a letter of continued interest appear in my portal after I submit it? I emailed it to my AO, but he hasn’t responded and I just want to make sure it doesn’t get lost in the shuffle. Should I just upload it directly to the portal or am I overreacting?
Don’t despair. Last year, my son was rejected with a very similar profile (was not officially a legacy -his grandfather & uncle are grads). We are Irish Catholic and as big of ND supporters as anyone and it hurt like hell, believe me. Just know you will end up somewhere great. My son ended up at Georgetown.
I have to admit that I am very jaded when it comes to college admissions so take this with a grain of salt. I think that “legacy” only really matters if your family is a big donor or at the very least you are a full pay applicant. Even with as big of an endowment as ND has, it’s still a business. This is just my anecdotal experience, but this is how it has fallen in my experience.
Totally agree @EricStratton - after going through the admissions process 3 times, I was totally jaded. All three kids have been very pleased with the final results, even though the final destination was not their #1 or “dream” school.
For what it is worth, we had the mirror experience. Myself, my wife and our older son all attended Georgetown - where my son was summarily rejected. He was admitted REA to Notre Dame and grew to love the school after attending the REA orientation and doing class visits with students. It was almost a relief for him not to have to make “the choice”, even though we were encouraging him all along that Notre Dame was probably a better fit and that he should feel no pressure to follow in his family’s Georgetown footsteps (should he get admitted).
Admissions end up being pretty fair across a range of top schools (a high quality applicant will usually get into a few), but individual school outcomes are very hard to understand or predict.
I would upload it to the portal, as well.
I was hoping by end of January if docs submitted by nov 1st. Anyone hear anything?

I am very happy to get in though I think my father is even happier. Two other students from my school were also accepted REA. One plans on attending and the other is not.
I know lots of past students at my high school that did not get in REA but then got in through RD. So keep up your spirits and hope for the acceptance.
When will ND scholar finalist be notified? If nominated as scholar semi final, does that mean be accepted?
@Chen1121 - In the virtual visit world, I’m not sure how the timing will work. My DS is not on a merit scholarship, so my knowledge is limited to info on this site. I do know that the number of merit scholarships is very low. If you are asking if the scholarship status is a “preview” of admission, I would think so, but nothing is guaranteed.
Hello,
Today I was notified I am a semi-finalist for merit scholarships at Notre Dame. I was wondering if this is a good sign, as I still have to wait for my admissions results in March/Early April (whenever they come out). I am really happy, but I do not know if I should be.
I’m in this exact same situation. If anyone past nominees or anyone who knows anything about receiving a scholars program nomination could provide some insight that would be awesome!
same! good luck with the application queen
I have the same question. My son was notified he is a merit scholar semi-finalist. Does this guarantee acceptance?
I have two daughters at ND. Neither of them received merit scholarships, but if I were in your shoes, I’d simply call the FA office and ask your question. Nobody will hold it against you or anything for asking that question. Good luck!
