@fncrane No I applied to Duke, Hopkins, Wake Forest, and Wash U St. Louis as well, but ND and Cornell are like my top TOP choices. Well, WAS for Cornell.

I applied for transfer what does everyones stats look like? I have a 3.8 college gpa and hold an associates degree but from a community college

Guys, I was just thinking, what if the enrollment confirmation dates from the other colleges we applied to is before ND sends out their decisions?! The thing is, ND is my top choice, but I also applied to a whole lot of other schools. What if I get accepted to one of these other schools, and the confirmation date is, say May 30th. I have just been thinking if I was ever put in this situation, what would I do, would I forgo the confirmation to that college and wait for Notre Dame with the risk that I might not be accepted?

@rdlp123 you might have to put down a deposit at another school until you hear back from ND. I know it’s non-refundable but if you can afford it it’s worth it. I might have to do the same thing.

@fncrane Yeah I was thinking of that as well. I heard a rumor though that doing the double deposit is risky?

@rdlp123 I mean the only risk you’re taking is losing money…haha

I’m probably not going to ND this year (was accepted into honors program), but just for reference I’m wondering if you can get back into the honors program if I would transfer in in the future.

Hey guys! I’m glad there’s a thread for this year out now! I’m trying to transfer out of UW-Madison with a 3.64. Not the best gpa by far but I figure it’s worth a try. How do you guys feel about your chances?

Welcome, Tfer14! I have about the same GPA as you, actually. My school is on the quarter system, and since the ND deadline is so late, I was able to send them both fall and winter quarter grades - which I hope helps because there was a drastic improvement between the two haha. I don’t know how I feel about my chances, honestly - mostly because the admissions process can be so random. But I tried to kind of convey in my essays how much I miss being at a Catholic school since I went to a Catholic high school but go to a public U now, and I hope that really helps. Getting real anxious with the wait!

Nice! Well, we can hope for the best! I’m not much of a religious person but I made sure to say in my essays that I think the religious aspect of Notre Dame creates a huge emphasis on family and social justice that a big public school mightn’t be able to have. I talked to some faculty members there, and they all said that it’s a really good idea to comment on the Catholic identity of Notre Dame in my application. So I think we’re on the right track!

I sure hope so! I just really want to get out of my current school.

Hey Guys,

Notre Dame has been my dream school for my entire life. I want nothing more than to be accepted, I was admitted to Vanderbilt today as a sophomore transfer so I’m feeling a little better about my chances. Vanderbilt gave me a great package and if I get into ND I will have to make a very difficult decision. I hope to be fortunate enough to go to ND but the price might steer me to Vandy. Good luck to all who applied and hopefully our dreams might be completed!

Welcome, pfricano3! I wish you all the best! Wouldn’t it be awesome if we all got in?!

I was just thinking a little while ago, I wonder how many applications ND got this year - that’s always a good indicator of your chances of being admitted. :/

Oh quick question - I won’t have my final spring grades until the middle of June because of the stupid quarter system, do you guys think that will hurt my chances of being admitted? I talked to someone in admissions and they were very vague about “we send decisions June 1 - July 1” etc., so I really don’t know what to think…

They said they do a rolling decision process. The sooner you complete your application, the sooner they’ll get back to you. So I bet it won’t hurt your chances, but you’ll just have to wait until they review your spring grades before you hear anything.

Hey guys do you know how big the applicant pool is this year? That really has a direct impact on how many of us will get in.

No idea, I’ve been wondering too… does anyone wanna call admissions? Haha

Also applying to transfer… I have 3.7 GPA at Bates College (top liberal arts college), applying as an Econ major to college of arts and letters. Took all 200 level courses second semester, but idk if they will care about that. I also work 10 hours/week on campus and am a member of my school’s Investment Club. Can’t wait to find out, but not getting my hopes up.

I bet people will start hearing within the next few days, based on past years’ trends.

@fncrane maybe for the people who have already forwarded their final grades.
