Notre Dame (Mendoza) vs. UVA (McIntire)

I already got pre-admitted to Mendoza, but I’m contemplating whether I should even apply to UVA in the first place. My mindset as of now is, “Well, if I get rejected to every other college that I’m applying to, then I could just go to ND”, and I originally put UVA down on my list because it has a “good” business undergrad program (I know, immature way of deciding, but oh well). So here’s a couple of questions that would help me to decide this matter:

  1. How does Mendoza’s alumni network par with UVA’s?
  2. Is the prestige from Mendoza larger than UVA’s?
  3. How is IB at both colleges? One better than the other?

Thanks. And before anyone asks any outside questions, such as FA, religion, party-scene, etc., let’s assume that these factors are null in this situation and that the only factors affecting this decision are those 3 questions above (or any similar questions to those I guess).

My 2 cents is just apply and decide later. What if you decide not to apply and change your mind later when the deadline has passed?

If you want to study business, I would seriously consider the Mendoza pre-admit. You cannot enter McIntyre until junior year. The average GPA from successful UVA internal candidates is over 3.6. Nice to have a bird in hand. Good luck!

Mendoza, no doubt in my mind and S is applying RD. Maybe I should say UVA

Pick the school you’d be happier at, you’re gonna live there for 4 years.

IMO the pre-admit at Mendoza is worth a ton. I would take the sure b-school acceptance over having to apply to a competitive b-school once you are at a college. Mendoza has one of the top undergrad b-schools in the country. and ND is a great place.
