Hi right now I'm deciding between ND and Georgetown, two very different schools. I've been to both schools and I love everything about the two of them, so basically it comes down to my major. I know I want to double major in philosophy and psychology which are two fields that ND excels in versus Georgetown but I'm sure I want to work for the State department, but I know for sure that I don't want to study international affairs for 4 years. Which school would be the better choice? I know georgetown is great for internships in D.C. but i feel like that applies to only SFS students. And the two majors are amazing at ND. What should I do?
P.S. Going to Medical school is a big thing too.
P.S.S. I'm also posting this on the ND thread

DC is not just a place for SFS students, and in the SFS you do spend two years fulfilling all of your core requirements (which includes two philosophy classes, and you can minor in it). I didn’t enjoy my first philosophy class (it’s required for all freshmen in the SFS), but I’m in the minority.

i thought sfs cant have minors?

Minors, no. Certificates (aka minors on steroids), yes. I think you might find the certificate in Social and Political Thought to be of particular interest: [Certificates - Bachelor of Science in Foreign Service](Certificates & Minors - SFS - School of Foreign Service - Georgetown University)

Perhaps paired with a STIA major, which would make it easier to complete the pre-med curriculum (since you mentioned med school).

Can you intern for state dept. easily from Notre Dame? If Notre Dame excels in your areas of interest then it is probably the better choice as long as you can have your internship experience as well. My daughter has a number of friends at Notre Dame and they are exceedingly pleased with the school - probably the happiest of all her friends who are all over the country at various schools. They matriculated to ND from a catholic jesuit high school as did she and a group to Georgetown. She didn’t consider Notre Dame but she has mentioned many times how her friends love it there. Good luck.
