Hello,

I am a senior in high school and have been admitted to both Notre Dame and the University of Illinois. I am interested/plan to major in engineering. I see that U of I is extremely highly regarded in their engineering programs. Notre Dame on the other hand, while not known for engineering, is regarded as a prestigious university whose name holds quite a bit of influence. So I am just looking for advice and thoughts on how to go about my college selection process and the pros and cons of both choices?

Thanks!

My D faced a similar choice between U of I and NU.

Some of the questions she had to ask are the same you should ask yourself:
Will you be happy at a big school, or a smaller one.
Overall, what were your thoughts after visiting each school?
What about location?(Although I guess this one cancels out - Cornfields vs cornfields!)
What about cost?
What SPECIFIC type of engineering?
Lots of people change their mind about engineering… which school will give you the most options if you do decide to turn in the nerd glasses?
Don’t call The Pope - or Chief Illiniwik - you know what they’ll say.
YOU have to come up with the answers - but they are BOTH great schools, so you can’t reallymake a bad choice. Just realize that your life for the nexy 4 years can be different.

Good Luck
