Nov.5 SAT II Japanese Thread.

How was it?

Well I looked at it.
I took Korean though.

Lol sorry.

Yeah, i looked at Korean too. Both were easy (i speak korean).
Too bad i cant take both listening test.

did you take it mike ??????

I took Japanese, and i think i got 800. It was too easy and i finished 20 minutes early. I didnt feel like checking answer, so i slept. Did you caesar?

I did the exact same thing mike! The extra couple minutes spent sleeping was almost as enjoyable as waking up in time to see the poor suckers taking spanish panicking to finish before the hour was up!

Yeah i know lol.
But one question with "chef" took me about 60 seconds to think.
It was too annoying.
How many chefs did you put?

It was four.

uhhh...I didn't do quite so...well on it...
oh well...I should feel worse, but I feel fine for some reason...
maybe I've given up on tests..

Anyway, I thought it was pretty hard with the horrible japanese program at my school....

Ooo! The listening question about making a reservation/order with sakurayasan or someone?? Was it flowers or restaurent??
the name made it confusing, but if it was flowers, why would they talk about tables??

also, how is the curve???

Yeah, even as a person who's studied Japanese in supplementary programs since forever, the sakurayasan threw me for a second. I put dinner reservations, since it specified a time and the number of people involved. Flowers would be illogical. I think.

Any more ambiguous questions?

How about the listening question about the best way for the two speakers to get home? I know they went by train, but I thought the next question asking why they chose the train could have been a little subjective. I put speed, but I wondered for a while whether it could be availability.

I took it too! Apparently the listening tests have extremely brutal curves shivers. Does anyone know how many one can miss to get an 800/790???

It was at a dinner reservation at a restaurant for 7 people :).

What did you people get for for the student that went to India. The 2 ultimate choices were dromroll...
1. went on a monthly photo exhibit
2. formed a club or something like that...

i agree with you bob on the subjectivity involved in the question asking who the woman was speaking to at the train station. But you can sort of tell from the casual tone that the man was a friend.

I was just wondering whether what type of situation the people who take this test are in......
I take Japanese at school and that's it....my teacher was trying to discourage me from taking this because most people who take it are fluent because of family situation or because they attend japan supplement programs.....making the curve impossibly hard...

I don't remember many questions, but I didn't finish the test...missing the last animal/plant question and what the student did in India...

Also, the grammar question that went **shima*aka?
kazetesuka(or something like that).....what was it?? douka?

I think I got like a total of 6 wrong at most...

sorry, don't remember that grammer question.
-6 is impressive considering you are takng it as a foreign language. I live in Japan so that probably will make me a native :P.

BUMP on the Indian question!

Indian question...
I forgot the second part of question.
First one was def. pic tho.
I really cant remember about the forming a club tho.

what do you mean by pic??
So then do you remember putting the "monthly" option?

for the indian question,
the first question asked was the choice "because of friend being there"

the second question - like everyone is saying - had to do with pictures.....either going to the monthly exhibit or entering a club....

Again, if anyone could talk about the curve...please??? I just want a rough estimate...

Yes that's it whosang thank you!
I am spazzing out to know the answer to question 2 posted by whosang.

I do not know anything about at all about the curve.

This seems to be accurate.

80 800
79 800
78 790
77 780
76 770
75 770
74 760
73 760
72 750
71 740
70 740
69 730
68 730
67 720
66 710
65 700
64 700
63 690
62 680
61 680
60 670
59 660
58 660
57 650

He organized a club that met regularly and went on trips and stuff, I believe.

As far as the curve goes, I've hear you can miss 5 or 6 and still get 800. Can anyone confirm this?
