November 2009 SAT Test Discussion

raine and xAAAx, im pretty sure there are only two versions of the test…u guys might not remember the youtube question because it was just one of many sentence corrections- i think the first question was about van gogh right?

but the passages I got for both writing sections were about smiling/feelings and egyption pyramids for sure. I’ve heard of others talking about a passage that discussed shopping??? I don’t remember a SINGLE passage I’ve had about shopping.

hmm, i remember the pyramid one on machu piccu right? not sure bout the smilings/feelings one, was it the one that said ur actions correspond to to ur expressions?

The writing section with your actions with expressions was the real section that I think everyone had.

Another writing question though: For the find the error question that was “Though Winston Churchill’s novel was … respectively recieved …” with Though and respectively underlined as 2 choices. I couldnt decide between the 2 and eventually guessed with Though, cause for some reason I thought it should be ‘Although’. Can some one explain why its respectively?

@killach19

Respectively makes no sense in that context. I think it’s supposed to be respectfully.

Yeah, I circled “respectively” in the sentence as well. It should have been respectfully.

But I was super doubtful about that question too since I’ve never come across a sentence error question in which the error in the sentence was a misused word. THat was just weird.

i got 5 for the math problem and I got mostly all the same answers as you on the Japanese girls passage. I don’t really remember what i put for the other sections. can u give me some examples of the writing experimental questions? my test sounds very similar to yours and im trying to figure out which section was experimental.

likeOmgg yeaa i think i got that one…i thought it was fairly easy but
i got all paranoid and kept rechecking all my answers thus running out of time.
gah! i thought the double passages about he fuel cellls were kinda hard…

on one of the improving passages, did anyone get the
questions about “…we assumed that feelings led to our
emotional expressions…” or something like that…??

i narrowred it down to two choices but wasn’t sure if i
should choose the past or present tenses offered so
guessed and picked the present :
“…we assume that a feeling determines our expressions…”
i think it was either a, b, or c
=l

does anyoen know if that was the answer??

ashley do you remember more of that question…the one before the grid in?

@raine i remember questions like that:

one of them i said the efficiency/promise of the fuel cells would outweigh the costs or something like that

the other i cant remember but that answer looks familiar, so i think i had that one too.

crap i cant remember if i got that one right. i think i might have
misread “exceed.” ughh

So this is gonna sound really strange, but I can’t remember if I had grid in problems on my November SAT. My version of the test only had 9 sections and it started with either a writing portion or a reading portion (can’t recall), but I can’t for the life of me remember if there were any grid ins. Can someone give me a few notable example of some problems?
