I couldn't help but think that one of the reading sections was the experimental one. It seemed harder than normal and contained some questions that I was not used to. What do you think?

there were experimental sections for every subject- math, reading, writing. I got the reading experimental because I had 4 reading sections instead of 3, so one of the 25 minute sections (2-7) that was a reading section is an experimental one. It all depends, you can’t really be sure. If you remember a specific question, ask in the main thread if anyone else got it and if not all people got it, that section was most likely experimental.

I believe the one that I thought was experimental was the one that talked about glaciers.

the ice age? i think that might have been it

Yeah, I was like 100 percent sure it was the experimental one, but everyone online seems to think it was the math or something.

no you don’t understand- the sat made an experimental section for each subject, but you are only given one experimental section. There are 3 writing (1 essay, 2 writing sections) 3 reading and 3 math sections, which add up to 9 sections. however one section from sections 2-7 is an experimental section, that can be either math writing or reading, but it can vary from person to person. you can tell for sure which subject on the test you took had an experimental section by finding out which subject had 4 sections.

Hmm, I don’t remember having four sections for any section, although that’s probably just my brain not functioning correctly, haha. If I had three writing sections, does that mean that one of the writing sections was experimental?

3 sections including the essay?

Yes, I believe so. Does that mean that one of them was it?

no, then you didn’t have an experimental writing section. just remember that there’s 3 sections for each subject (3*3=9). the extra section is the experimental one, so the subject that had 4 sections was the experimental one.

Wow, what a relief! I only remember three math sections, and as you just said, the writing section was not experimental, which means that one of the critical reading sections was the experimental. This is strange since I don’t remember having four reading section, haha.

yeah I really didn’t pay attention at first, but this was my 4th (and last) SAT so I’m pretty much used to it. I’m aiming for a 2100+, last one I got a 2000. what are you aiming to get?

These were all the passages that counted https://www.■■■■■■■■.com/questions/368?title=Which+CR+passaged+counted%3F+November+3+2012+sat

How can we trust that list?

If the subject with 4 sections was the experimental, that means there was one subject with two?

it’s simple math- 3 subjects with 3 sections for each subject= 9 sections. there is one extra section- an experimental. it is on one of the 3 subjects, and it would make 4 sections for one subject

Sorry, I don’t mean to be a bother, but I’m still confused.

1 Essay Section + 3 Math + 3 Critical Reading + 3 Multiple Choice Writing = 10

If one section had 4 there would be a total of 11 sections, which is simply impossible.

I’m pretty sure it wasnt the glacier one because I had an experiemental writing and I had the glacier one.

The glacier one couldn’t have been experimental because I had it in the 8th or 9th section. I have no idea which one it was, but I know the story about the girl playing “When I’m Sixty-Four” on the clarinet made my SAT a little bit better.

the essay is included in the writing section- there are 2 writing sections and 1 essay, so it’s:
1 Essay+2 Writing+3 Math+3 Reading= 9 sections. the 10th is an experimental one
