November SAT discussions (international)

woa that’s really good score

Do you remember a SC with ‘‘pedestrian’’ ?

so how many math sections are there supposed to be? I thought I might have had an experimental math on mine, questions like citrus fruit graph percent decrease, whether the point was inside the circle etc.

There are supposed to be 3 real sections for each ability tested. The questions with fruit and circle were in the real math section.

Do you remember a SC with ‘‘pedestrian’’ ?

I’m not sure. I can’t remember whether I saw a question with pedestrian on a practice test or on the real test.

wut score woudl i get if i got
-2 on math
-7 on reading
-3 and 10 essay on writing?

there was definitely a SC question with an answer choice “pedestrian” im not sure if it was the answer though. probably not.

yes there was a pedestrain Option on SAT
rearding her writing was …
sumthing like tht

i was real confused on dat one
( cant remember wat i wrote :stuck_out_tongue: )

Well,the day before the test I did a very similar practice question which answer was pedestrian and on the test day I was almost sure this was the right choice.

Bilguun - awesome compilation!
Did anyone notice that Direct Hits did an amazing job on this test? Based upon Bilguun’s compilation, DH had 18 direct hits. The only key words not in DH were Agrarianism and Crystallize.

I dont think the Mark Twain answer is B - pertinent observation. I remember choosing D - possible explanation for a particular reaction to Zubin’s novel (something like this). why is this wrong? because after mark twain’s quote, he mentions that there were some in desperate need for Zubin’s adoration. :(

I can’t recall any zubin’s novel mentioned in the passage and on the question itself so I could not disprove your choice. However, if memory serves me right, the Mark Twain quote was something like “If you want to get praised for your work, praise other authors’”, and the Indian writer uses this quote to internalize the observations coming from the white people as half of them, he thought, did not know this (so they didn’t applaud his work) and half of them knew this and were overzealous. So he used this quote to describe a pertinent (as both the quote and his observation involve praises) observation.

All the details are of course really fuzzy to me right now. To be honest, I’m not sure the question asked about this Mark Twain quote or the other one, so don’t count on me.

haha so that math section was for real? Does anyone remember what they got for the % decrease of citrus fruit production? I got 10%? I can’t remember putting down pedestrian for any of the questions

10% is correct. I vaguely recalled putting down pedestrian on one question. I guess I didn’t pay attention to it much as it was one of the easier questions that took 3 secs to finish.

@dark night
I was really surprised at finding Direct Hits words everywhere. I was expecting to encounter a few words but almost every SC question had a Direct Hits word for its answer! It was simply amazing.

@mcpheevn
Zubin is the Indian author of the passage, and you’re right about the quotation. I used the same logic to arrive at that answer.

Yea, for the citrus question, I got something like 11% and chose 10% for the answer.

What was that circus question ?

I think there was a graph showing yearly amounts of citrus fruits, and we had to find a the percentage of decrease from one year to another.

Oh,right :)I remember this one but cant actually recall what I put.
