|||||November SAT II Biology Discussion|||||

Oh does anyone remember an experiment question about DNA stability? G+C has three H bonds while A+T has two!

So was this test harder than an average Bio SAT? If it was, does the curve get easier and what raw score might you need for an 800 in Bio E?

G-C is harder to disrupt with heat than is A-T.

Also about the diagram for the gc question, was it the one where the first part was coiled, secobd part separate, and third part coiled again?

@Happy2102 - That’s the one I picked too!

Actually the leaves on cacti are called “needles” I don’t think it could be coniferous forests because the only thing needle-like I can think of are pine cones…but pine cones are not leaves. The second part of the question also said “short growing season”

For the plant question about which color would change the experiment the most, it was green right?

Hmmm I still feel like the desert is the right answer…the question asked for “needle-like leaves” Spines and leaves are essentially synonymous…spines are just modified leaves.

So was this test harder than an average Bio SAT? If it was, does the curve get easier and what raw score might you need for an 800 in Bio E?

Because o Hurrican Sandy, my test has been rescheduled next week… Is the test hard?

perhaps because we’re taking it in the middle of the school year, they need to make it harder to give a more generous curve?

Hey the scores are out. What did you guys get?
I got 740 in my SAT BIOLOGY M

i got 730 not soo good :frowning: for the school I am applying to

800 in Biology E!!!

Ha. Oh well, that’s kind of what I expected. At least Math II was much, much better.

Hi
I’m an international student… I took the sat 2 Biology E in November and got 740.
Is it a low score for the Ivy League schools?
The test was really hard for me because I’m not familiar with all the biological terms in English and I didn’t have much time to study :frowning:
Thanks for your help

So I’m taking the test in Dec but I’m prepping with Barron’s now.
Question, for high scorers who prepped with Barron’s, do remember your score from the Diagnostic test? I scored super low and I was wondering if, with studying for two weeks straight (gap year kid here so I can devote lots of hours per day to studying), I can score 750+ come test day.

@alexissss - I took Bio M in November. My Barron’s Diagnostic test score was in the low 600s. My actual score was 750. :)

Ohhh, I see. I scored 550 on M (thought this was my strong point) and 580 on E (assumed this as weak point, but I guess not thanks to AP Enviro), lol. I took AP Bio my senior year, but the class only strengthened my skills in cellular and molecular Bio the first half of the year. The second half my class got a different teacher (had her my sophomore year for honors Bio where she mostly taught genetics --!) who only taught us genetics (her fav) the rest of the year. Only 5 people even took the AP test, no one got above a 3 out of the 5 people. xD When I took the Diagnostic test, some of the terms were such that I’ve never seen before. O____O
How long did you study for?
