did anyone get 4 math sections? Is the section 6 math section the experimental section? It talked about different trees and finding their ages. A couple of problems was based off of a single data graph.

@tbradsworth…are you sure it wasn’t something like there are more planets than people think? because after the colon it said something like “the solar system is teeming with barren planets like countless unfulfilled political promises”?

@pomplamousse where did it mention the United States in the first passage? and what did you put for what does passage 1 think about the first sentence of passage 2?

@JCsplash: but he dismissed the notion as unrealistic (terraforming is unrealistic)

@tbradsworth i agree but in the explanation of “notion” after the colon what in there had anything to do with actually transforming other planets into planets like earth? I just remember the notion mentioning “teeming with” and have of a tone of the enormous amount of planets and not actually transforming them?

Also, do you remember what you put for the comparison questions in the first passage about music authenticity?

Does anyone remember for the mars one whether the answer to one of the questions was “to ridicule the outcome of an approach” or “to emphasize the absurdity of a task”?

@deadlyburrito it was emphasize the absurdity

@JCsplash the answer to the comparison was the development of the US - it was mentioned in the blurb that both passages are about the US. Plus, the whole passage viewed music authenticity in general and how it affected types of music in the United States

then what was passage one’s reaction to the first sentence in passage two do you remember?

@JCSplash: IIRC, in the paragraph, the sentence before the one with notion, the author was talking about terraforming. He then ridiculed the notion and said that if terraforming were viable, then there are a lot of planets out there that could “sustain life” (hence the comment after the semicolon about all the planets)

@deadlyburrito
ahhhhhhhhh no… so it was george washington for section 5 and polling for section 6? :’(

Why can’t the circle be determined? I got 1…

You only knew the radii of each circle. You had no quantitative information regarding how close or far apart the circles were.

Here are consolidated answers version 2

GRAMMAR

MARS PASSAGE

purpose of question - emphasize the absurdity

MUSIC PASSAGE

SWIMMING PASSAGE

fog, thoughts - for the swimmer to vary her training

^ for the ant colonies passage are you sure purpose=evaluating someone’s work? They definitely had that one author’s work in there but there didn’t seem to be any evaluating of it. I thought application or description of a term or however that answer was phrased was the right one :(

The ant passage answer is debatable in my opinion

“reluctant realization for the practicality of commercialism”?
don’t remember that as an answer choice (or maybe it was a different passage)

most people in the chatroom put “some consumers consider food source before buying”

i don’t think it was application of a term; the guy was only describing what a superorganism is, not describing any application of a superorganism.

reflect -> “manifest” was the answer to one of the music questions

a lot of the answers aren’t in the right passage…

i need to know if I should cancel my score. I wasn’t on the tiny chat so I dont know the answers. Did anyone do a google doc or have a better consolidated list? The other version has a google doc going!

Can anyone add/fix vocavicki’s list? thanks! Also, did anyone ever find any of the passages? The other thread has found at least 4 of the passages online. Let’s beat them!

It was literally how the word superorganism is applied and what it defines, i don’t think any other answer was even close. The ant colony was just an example of a superorganism

@Vocaguru, the mode median answer is incorrect. the answer is actually B, II only, (only the mode changes). The median is the same because the ORIGINAL frequency was 1 x for the first section, 1 x for the section, 4 x’s for the 3rd section, and 3 x’s for the 4th section, so the midian was originally whatever the 3rd section number was

but then the new one had 5 x’s for the 4th section, so the median is still whatever the 3rd section number was because only 2 x’s were added to the 4th section

Wait what was the one about the numbers in the 8 numbers in the circle and how many combinations you could make?
