***Official January 2015 SAT (US ONLY) THREAD***

Thought I'd make a thread for people planning on taking the test during this month..

Might be taking it again in January depending on my score on the November test.

guess im takin the jan test

hows the prep going?

I’m taking this and I’m extremely nervous. I stopped prepping when school started so I have no idea where I’m at #-o

any tips on critical reading to get from low 700s to 800s? It seems like I usually miss those iffy questions…

so can anyone predict how the test will be? math has been easy on november and december i believe

I’m retaking the SAT in January in preparation for my transfer applications! The last time I took it (April '12), it was free through my school and I didn’t actually know it was happening so I showed up half-asleep and actually did fall asleep during the essay portion. So that… didn’t go well.

I’m hoping to bump my CR and W as close to 800 as possible (my essay is the only thing that brought me down to a 780 the first time around) and raise my math score significantly.

I’m a college sophomore, so it probably doesn’t hold as much weight as I’m worrying it might. Still, if I don’t get into any of my schools, I don’t want it to be for lack of trying.

what did you get earlier?

Same here :(. I’m gonna study during the whole winter break :frowning: .

@Hapaz98 Not 100% sure yet, but for sure not as well as I wanted to do.

I will be taking this SAT, it will be my first time (other than 7th grade for Duke Tip). Does anyone have a study guide or method of studying. Obviously I will be reading Silverturtle’s guide and the blue book. I am planning to take a baseline SAT practice test this Saturday/Sunday in one sitting.

@CUTigers835 just keep a consistent schedule, review your mistakes, practice your essay before the test, etc.

i just have a question… do u guys think the us and international test will be the same?

Nope, they’re never the same @oronen‌

Hey guys. I’m already signed up to take the SAT in January, and would totally love a 2300+. I’m on winter break so I’m hoping to do a lot of intensive studying after I get home from the mini-vacation I’m on right now.

What kind of schedule are you guys making for yourselves? Or are you just going to prep whenever you have the time?

how are you guys prepping for reading

Not only will this be my last time, it will be my last possible time, as I am a senior. I got a 670 CR 800 M 720 W 10 E last time, and this time I am really hoping for large increases in CR and W.

@Cosmological‌ nice! What have you done to help you improve your CR score? I believe I’ll get around that score for December, and I’m in dire need of help to boost me up to ~750!

@Tennistiger I just take practice tests and use some of the tips on CC threads, usually the larger ones intended as guides. I never really employed a strategy consistently, though, just tried to get more focused with my analysis of the passages.
