OMG a QUOTE BUTTON!!! Thank you so much! We will have to edit the quote down so we don’t quote whole posts, but this is a HUGE help!!

Well, I’m going to have to practice with the quote thing and removing part of it because I just tried and it didn’t work for me.

Wow, that’s better than having to type quote a couple times with a slash.

Here is the markup that the quote button gives:

Note that this includes a reference pointer to the previous post (the c-22344514 part) that you can click on to get to the previous post.

This is great! If only the fonts and magnifying glass came back!

Late to the party but yes a quote button ?. I also got spam on the old format once in a while. Using the Brave browser, I get none of that, no videos playing or pop up etc.

The quote button would be much better if there was also a save draft button. I sometimes quote multiple things…and sometimes from multiple threads. I haven’t figured out how to efficiently do this without that save draft button.

Frankly, I think a quote function isn’t a high priority…and I find it amusing that this was added but other things haven’t been addressed…

I think they are fixing things that they can. If putting a quote button is something that was very easy and fast to do its showing everyone that they are making some progress. But maybe I am doing something wrong with it. I thought I could just highlight and hit the quote button to take this section and put in quotes. But it quotes the whole passage and then I deleted what I didn’t want. If someone has a better way let me know what I am doing wrong. Thx.

I believe you are correct; if there’s another way to select text, I have not found it.

Thank you! :+1:

@skieurope. Still a backwards way of doing it but somewhat functional for me. You would think you would just highlight what you wanted quoted and hit the quote button. It’s why programmers are usually not end users… Agh…

Actually I would have preferred the old way of not having a quote button and force users to use HTML to actually quote things. What probably will happen is if everyone starts using the quote button, the post will become the size of 15 posts. I hope there’s a limit of the previous post when it comes to quoting.

Nope

Isn’t there a saying about not being able to please everyone? Oh yeah - You can’t please everyone.

Just checking if you were lying or not

One more check

Ok so I’m very satisfied…looks like all the previous ones except for the current one is initially hidden, which is fantastic!

is there a way to select only a portion of a post to quote? Having to manually delete is arduous and on my ipad, trying to highlight/select a portion isn’t working.

On my iPad just now, after tapping Quote, I had no trouble selecting and deleting the beginning of your text. Have you tried that?
