for DA bro i would go like super prep formal hahaha
just cause of the dress code

Well I dunno about the Mohawk, goin’ to Deerfield myself they seem quite a bit strict and I haven’t seen that much variety in hairstyles inthe viewbook, except some kids wearing gel etc. (haven’t been able to visit ) also ‘bout the earring I think they might sorta really not like it since they are very traditional and that is a source of pride for Deerfield. Maybe u could make it into a necklace (attach it to a gold chain or sumthin’ idk…) but still I’d call and check with the admissions dept at Deerfield I’m sure that they’ll help u with your questions.

I will ask, because it was given to me by my best friend since 5. She would be hurt if i got rid of it or somethign

bro DA can’t tell you how to dress it just whether or not you want to feel accepted at the school IMHO either lose one or the other mohawk or earring i mean it also depends how flashy the earring is it the a bright diamond stud or just like a metal stud

its kinda flashy. ill shave my head and grow it out. sigh

you have a picture of it on FB

Well DA sorta CAN do that since they have a pretty strict dress code. Not sure that their exactly psyched by Mohawks and earrings especially since they’re a bit traditional.

If you do not follow the dress code u get an accountability point and if u get to many of these u can actually be thrown out of the school because of disrespect, I dunno wheter or not u think the hair cut is worth it but at DA they can tell u how to dress use:

as a reference

haha did u c it already hco thru facebook

nah haha

@deerfieldswede

they dont care about Mohawks that’s only if like you wear ***** the government t-shirt
I know a bunch of DA kids who had gotten mohawks one time or another but keep in mind only for their sport season as it was like a team-building/bonding thing or whatever

call me old fashion but when i think of most boarding school i think of Dead Poet Society, short hair, clean shaven, clean uniform, and conformaty and i strongly think that is what makes boarding schools great. I am really not into those people who are " against dress codes" and the kind of people who think that they need to be " individual" and its there “personality”. I personaly think thats a bunch of garbage because it is not too difficult to wear a uniform for 8 hours of a school day and then do what ever you want at home. Needless to say if the mohawk is righteous go with it and rep it hard, but it “may” or “may” not come off as the wrong impression. But usually alot of the big “guy” houses on campus may think your earing is a bit fruity so i suggest leaving it at home.

@ lemmings- On another post you said you don’t live in America, so how do you know what the boarding schools here are like? And I don’t think jyun is against the dress code, but he’s rather just trying to be himself.

I would cut it off. The girls at Deerfield are rumored to be the most attractive of all HADES! Make a good impression. (:

Isn’t one of the main goals of boarding school to accept differences in others and to welcome diversity. Why should he change his look just to fit in with others.

Personally, I think it would be rather boring if every single girl looked the same and every single guy looked the same. I feel that you should go as you are. If they don’t accept you as a person, it is their loss because they will be missing out.

so the consensus is drumroll KEEP THE MOHAWK! :)

and the EARRING! =P

haha i need to cut my hair in the next month to keep the mohawk so i think im going to. i mite cut it off during the summer and go for a straight buzz cut b.c trust me when i say long hair for football= hell. as for the earing i am not taking it off, uinless im threatened to get kicked off the school. its from a friend and i respect her. as for kcansps haha of course Ill do my best for a good impression

I thought you were going to Choate. Why the change of mind?

i decided ill decide finally after revisit days. to be honest i had my heart set on deerfield so naturally when i was wl, i was kinda hurt. i was thinking okay wait until deerfield day ill crush u blah blah blah. but now, deerfield happened so deerfield it is haha

Scaredbutchill- I know have visited a few schools in North America and i have done my fair share of research. I also have a few friends who have attended some. And i have watched Dead Poet Society Lol, ( im not basing all my thoughts on this movie but it was a very great film) and i believe it was shot at st. andrews de.

Dead Poets Society was shot at SAS, but it took place back when the schools were all boys, when things were QUITE a bit different. Plus, it was fictional. I think you are thinking of military school, not boarding school.
