Now that I'm pretty much officially going to UCI, tell me about the Greek life!

How difficult is it to get a bid in a sorority? And what are the great ones to join? Any unspoken suggestions we should know about in order to get a bid? haha. Same q's for frats just in case some of the guys are curious as well.

Greek life is a big deal here at UCI. You can get a bid to something (it may not be the one you WANT to join) but once youre in its pretty fun. My only suggestion would be to get to know active sorority or fraternity members before/outside of rush since fall rush is pretty hectic and you want them to remember you.

I did the Stay Over program today and my host told me some frats/sororities at UCI still do hazing because they’re not under school jurisdiction?

What sort of reputations do the Greeks at UCI have/what sort of advice can you give regarding which to join and which to avoid? Specific clubs, please!

I’m curious about this too.

secretly disguised BUMP

^I’ve been thinking of doing this too. Haha.

I really wanna join aKDPhi and since they only have annual rushes, I’d like to know as much about their campus reputation before school starts so I can decide whether to rush or not.

HELP!

What’s the point of them besides for social purposes?

i’ve heard they are very good for networking and getting jobs post-college

Greek Life is pretty strong here since there is no school spirit. All my friends who are in greek life do it for the partying and drinking, not so much networking and getting a job.

i didnt join a sorority this year because I didnt really want to in the beginning but i kind of regret it now and am gonna rush next quarter. it will make your college life so much fun but it takes up a lot of time
