I just got a letter from NSHSS (National Society for High School Scholars) and they are persuading me to pay $50-$60 to join this "society". If I join this club, I apparently get opportunities for scholarships and they claim that their society (NSHSS) looks great on a college transcript.

I want to get into an Ivy League college so will paying and joining NSHSS really help me or is it a scam/waste of time....

I don’t believe that it makes any difference. I received the same letter last year and was told by friends that participating in this is just an opportunity for the program to make money.

Is NSHSS highly respected by colleges since only good academic scholars are invited?? Is it worth the money? Is it actually beneficial when applying for competitive colleges?
