I wonder what country will be rolled out next and when, I guess this afternoon and how about China?!

Congrats to those going to Russia! Did anybody get accepted into China Summer? That is what I applied for, and I am hoping that they have not informed the China people yet (or else I’ll have to finad another way to China this summer).

find
Also, (this is kinda random), to the people who got accepted…what time of day was the email sent? Thanks

@jwjw112 i guess according to the exchange connect boards its around 5pm EST that the emails were sent

oh thanks…what exactly is this “exchange connect boards”. Is this another online forum?

yup!

Yeah just Russian summer heard and I received my email at 5:25 EST! Exchanges Connect is connect.state.gov then you join the NSLI-Y group

thanks to you both…I have already joined! Hopefully China applicants will be notified soon…I can’t take the waiting.

Watchmesoar, you’re lucky you’ve never seen my baking skills! The last time I made brownies, they exploded into chocolate goo.

whoever applied for arabic tell me when youre notified!!

& does anyone know how they choose which country you will be assigned to for arabic (jordan egypt or morocco?)? Is it just random?

@q1w2e3r4t5y6 I’m pretty sure it has to do with your language level, as they have to group you with similar leveled students. Also, there has to be adequate housing.

It’s now 5:36 EST…

arabic is based on your arabic proficiency. beginners are usually sent to egypt. intermediate are sent to jordan or morocco. morocco & jordan are only summer programs and egypt is summer, semester, & year.

thanks!
if I’m lucky I’ll be going to Egypt then…

ahh, i was almost sure that they would notify people tonight for China. I never heard anything…anybody receive any emails besides the Russian folks?

Nothing here. I should get off and distract myself with practicing violin. Friday nights really suck when you’re anxiously waiting for some sort of a sign to arrive from up above…I’m assuming the smaller language groups are being notified now before notifying the giant. I think its best to consult watchmesoar though +_+ Yes, I shall now use your skills for the greater good (and the sanity of the rest of us).

I think that the larger programs, like China summer (which has about 200 spots!), will probably be the last to be notified…Turkey summer only has 35 and Tajikistan has 18.

Perhaps they’ll continue notifications through the weekend? I’m too impatient to wait for Monday evening.

maybe this weekend?! they did conduct the interviews over the weekend… no one on the other forum heard today either.

i agree with you both…since China has the most applicants (and since they doubled the amount of availbile scholarships from 100+ to 200+) there are proabably many more complications that would delay the China notifications. I also cannot stand the waiting, but fear that we might have to brave another weekend because government offices usually don’t work on Saturdays and Sundays even if there is a lot of work to do. Hopefully, it will be earlier next week as opposed to later (or even worse-two weeks from now).
