I would assume it to be next week, b/c they need to get visas. Good luck to you guys!

It seems to me that selecting the summer recipients for all countries would come before the semester/year students, simply because of the more immediate timing of visas and travel arrangements. Sadly, that would stink for me, but it makes sense to get the ball rolling for those who are leaving the soonest. But who knows? Now that I’ve made that pronouncement, surely China/year will come out next and prove me wrong! I’m happy to be wrong all day if only they would tell us something!!!

Like a couple of previous posters, I also doubt we’ll get anything over the weekend. Again, PLEASE prove me wrong wrong wrong.

I have to apply for a passport still haha

Psh, at least you are in, sore. The passport is so easy to get it’s quite a wonder if they even check. I received mine about 2 weeks after I applied for one.

Why won’t they work a little extra!!! It’s not like EVERYONE including them are trying to meet a deadline or something…

For those of you who have been selected for Russia, what is the pre-departure orientation dates in DC, did they let you know? Thank you!

Haha I guess so chewy, I’m applying for an expediated one but in the packet it s ays they need a copy of it before April 15 but if you don’t have one to e-mail t hem your situation.

@goal - My orientation is actually in NYC, they didn’t say when orientation would be except “immediatly before departure”. They let me know the date I would be leaving.

Okay, thanks. They obviously have different POD’s based on your location and destination…

The PODs also have to do with who is sponsoring. For example, one of the PODs for Korea is Hawaii because the U. of Hawaii (I think) is sponsoring it.

By the way, does anyone know how many people applied originally? I remember reading about it before, but I can’t find the number anywhere!

I think the number of original applicants was about 1498…

Yeah - should have put that my sponsor is AFS.

SoreSubject - I’ll see you theree! I’m guessing they’ll send us more info, since the email was sorta brief ;]

Probably once we officially accept the offer!

you have until Thursday 4/15 to accept? do you accept via email? just curious…

I can’t believe they just sent emails for Russia summer! It seems like the “rolling basis” has come to a halt!

Isn’t it notoriously hard to get a Russian visa? That’s probably why Russia summer was notified before everyone else, so they can get that process started as soon as possible.

http://wikitravel.org/en/Russia#Get_in

You have to send a copy of your passport “photo” page and then a form via e-mail and you mail a copy to them.

Leigh - I know it must be hard for you but I have a feeling it will all happen next week! So keep waitin’, I know its tough.

watchmesoar - thanks for that link! That could make sense as to why Russian summer applicants were the first to hear.

hello! I applied for China summer and I’ve been checking my e-mail almost every half hour for a week. I’m so anxious ><

I really hope they finish telling us tomorrow. Otherwise, we have practically no time before we have to send everything in to accept the offer. I really want to finally know what I’m doing this summer!

Good luck everyone. I’m sure (ha!) we’ll hear in the next couple of days. I certainly hope all of the posters here are selected. It’s been a great conversation with you guys. I think we should start the pool again on when the next notices will go out. Remember, closest without going over!

I say Monday, April 12 at 11:05am… but I’m much more interested in watchmesoar’s prediction!

4:37 pm on Monday the 12th.
