@nicole.iwi2, thanks for that update. I agree with your logic. No reason to send out acceptances and alternates today, only to send out more acceptances tomorrow. Best wishes on getting off the Alternate list and being offered a spot!
I hope they don’t make my son wait for his formal rejection until mid-April. Sooner the better.

So if I didn’t receive an email for alternates nor an email for finalist does that mean there’s no chance at all? This year is a bit confusing
@xncc332 Since this year is so different, there’s really no way to tell. But I’d say don’t give up hope until you’re notified otherwise.
And believe it or not, one of my mentor’s students got an acceptance letter for China on April 1.

I just got accepted earlier today for the China Summer program! By the way, for those who are wondering about which locations are in China, I got placed in Suzhou. Anyone else?

@elizacorms, parent of an NSLI-Y Summer (China) appliant here. All I can tell you is that my S is in the same boat–nothing at all from the program (since his automatic notification that they rec’d his medical forms). This is just 100% my own opinion here, but frankly I cannot say I’m optimistic at this point. The fact that even Alternates were notified today was, to me, simply not a good sign. But it’s early, so who really knows?
I’ll be sure to post back here if my S hears anything tomorrow.
At the end of the day, I’m proud of all the work he did and time and effort he put into his essays and the interview. I think you should feel the same, regardless of how this turn out in the end.
My S received China, Xiamen, today. He is split between going to the USAFA that starts about the same time or going ROTC in a traditional college and go to China. It is his decision and he has 1 week to decide. I am proud of him to matter which.
