NU NY Showcase

Thought some of you might be interested:

My daughter and I went to the showcase yesterday and it was the finest one we've seen in the four years I've been going. They had two dates this year - Tuesday and Thursday, don't know why. This years' crop of kids were incredibly talented with only one or two mediocre performances. Really, really impressive and entertaining. The audience was packed with both families, fellow students and alumni, and talent agents from great agencies.

Congratulations to all!

Northwestern? Does a showcase?!?

They do two - one in NY and one in Chicago.

Wow! I had no idea! Is it just for Musical Theatre or for Drama as well? Must students audition to be included?

It is for both MT and straight Theatre. There is an audition process for NY, anyone can participate for Chicago. The audition process is different, my daughter was very impressed with how it is handled but I don’t know it well enough to discuss. Just be assured that it’s not based on “past results” if you will and there are surprises each year as to who gets in. It is all part of your Fall Acting class Senior year (and MT class if pertinent).

It is both for Musical Theatre and Acting. Here’s more info, with links to the headshots and resumes of this year’s New York and Chicago Showcase participants:

Oops, I meant this past year’s (2012) participants

Well, double oops! The link to the NY Showcase is this year’s (2013) and the link to the Chicago Showcase is last year’s (2012).

Thank you, amtc and CCMom. We are anxiously awaiting the NU financial aid package. The showcases are a nice bonus that we were not aware of!
