NU/Rice/P-ton vs Full ride at UMN honors

I'm a full pay child, and I am in a dilemma here..

I was accepted at Northwestern, Rice, Princeton and waitlisted at Harvard. Would it be worth it to attend any of them?

My family CAN afford $50,000 a year, but it would still be a large burden. Should I take the money and run? or should I go with UMN and have all of my money for graduate school?

I will most likely be going pre-med..but I'm not really sure (VERY conflicted at this point..heh)

One more thing: I like NU more than I like Princeton, which is very unusual for someone on CC I suppose...I just don't think I would fit in at Princeton

Thanks everyone

What do you mean by burden? Are they planning to take money out of their retirement accounts?

How do your parents feel about it?

As for Princeton vs NU, why even consider Princeton if you don’t like it?

A full ride is tough to turn down. Did you try calling NU/Rice/Pton financial aid offices to see if there is anything more they can offer?

If they don’t pull thru, I would work on getting top grades at UMN and saving the money for grad school.

If you or your family has to borrow a large sum of money, it’s not worth it, IMO.

I understand you worked hard in high school to get accepted to great colleges. Getting a full ride at a great public honors college is a fantastic reward, and a blessing, given the current economy.

Because of Princeton’s reputation/prestige, duh. :D

My parents don’t share our financial situation with me, but looking at our FAFSA EFC, we will not get any more aid, even in our wildest dreams.

I think Minnesota is a great place and if you kick butt in the honors college there is not a med school in the country that won’t seriously consider your application.
