If you had a choice Northwestern v. Wash U engineering: 1) which is more prestigious; 2) which one will you have a life: 3) if transfer out to a different college at the same University, better to transfer to Olin business at Wash U or some Kellogg undergrad courses at NU; 4) which is the better overall school to attend; and lastly 5) is the marching band fun?

NU engineering is more prestigious than WashU engineering. NU has 7 depts (bme, chemE, civil, env, mech, industrial/managment sci, and material sci) while WashU (BME) has 1 dept ranked in the top-20. The rankings are basically peer assessment/faculty/reputation rankings.

Don't know.

The Kellogg cert. is open to all majors (though managerial analytics will pretty much be filled with only engineers). You don't need to "transfer" to pursue it (if you get in). Check out industrial engineering/management sciences (ranked #6); it's a hybrid of management and engineering.

In the eyes of the beholders.

Yes.

Thanks for your expedited and informational response.
Regarding Kellogg - is there an undergrad business school or only grad?

The business doesn't give an undergrad degree. But your transcript should show whatever certificate program you will be in (if you get in) from Kellogg. It's a nice thing to put on the resume because of reputation. Also, based on the prerequisites, the courses in the financial economics certificate program are likely more advanced than your average courses in other ungergrad b-school school.

Maybe Sam Lee's responses were detailed enough in number 1 and 3; I would like to corroborate that. In addition, I've done some research on those two schools, and concluded that
2)you'd have a better life in NW. While NW campus is a peaceful, good place to study, it is also near Chicago, which is a greater city than St. Louis. It has most of the things you will need. What I heard from a friend from St. Louis, all you can do for entertainment in St.Louis is to go to the zoo and sit and watch the farm land(with a bit of an exaggeration;))

Thanks for your input
