NU vs. BERKELEY business/econ!!!

Hi guys!
Very recently, I ahve been accepted to Northwestern University (with scholarship) from its waiting list. However, I have already gotten in to UC Berkeley before. FYI, I plan to study Economics/business in university. Should I choose NU or Berkeley? And why?

FYI, Berkeley has a two-year undergrad business program (which I have to apply for in my second year). Meanwhile, Northwestern just has an Econ major.

..I need help!

btw, this is undergraduate that I am talking about, not graduate schools

i don't know if you're a california resident or not, but if the scholarship that NU gave you matches the cost of attending berkeley, i would go to NU.

if berkeley is going to be A LOT cheaper, go to berkeley. both are amazing schools, although getting accepted to the business program at berkeley is extremely competitive. also, keep in mind what kind of campus life you'll want.

NU will be A LOT smaller with a more tight-knit commuinity, while berkeley is a huge public university where it's easy to get lost in the crowd. if you're not very outgoing, i would recommend going to NU.

You have no guarantee of acceptance to the business program at Cal, but if you're sure you can get in, then go to Cal. Otherwise, Northwestern is better imo.

Northwestern has an undergrad certificate through the business school now but like Berkeely business program, you'd have no guarantee of acceptance.

isn't the acceptance rate for Haas something like 60%?

it is for internal transfers. Like Cal Econ/Undeclared -> Haas
for transfers from community college/other universities it is substantially less.

jnpn, where did you get that information? I heard it was more like 40%.

yeah, but the applicants are self-selective.
average gpa for berkeley applicants to haas was like 3.8 or 3.9 last time i checked.

Wasn't too sure about it-- that's why I asked. Just checked the website and it was in fact 60%.

Turns out average GPA is a 3.63

http://www.haas.berkeley.edu/Undergrad/statsucb.html

3.8 or 3.9 would have been REALLY high.

73% minorities haha

73% minority but only 2.6% URM..... LOL

Asians duh. I'm actually surprised that we're so overrepresented at a top b-school.

mostly koreans :]

I doubt it; the Chinese American is the biggest group among the Asians in UCB.
