Any early estimates on how big an applicant pool WashU got this year? Are the numbers still increasing or are they starting to level off?

I'd venture to guess around 23,000, but who knows really. They still haven't released last year's statistics.

23,000!?!?!? Even BROWN doesn't get that many! Wow, that's crazy...I didn't know SO many people applied...

Last year was 22,000...but I don't know how many we got this year. I have a feeling that the number is a bit lower, just cause I think that less people applied to college in general this year. However, I may just be wrong and paranoid, lol

I thought the number of college applicants was supposed to continue to rise until 2012...and then it will eventually plummet into oblivion. Or so I heard.

chet, I think you're right...perhaps I'm just showing my bias towards the class of 2010 and all of their greatness ;)

Alright, well you all deserve it! From what I've seen from the class of 2010, I think our class is trying to live to a bar set pretty high...

Chet2006 -- the overall number of applicants may continue to rise until 2012, but the number of applicants to top schools may not follow that trend because of HS students being unwilling to chase low acceptance rates.

Good point. I wonder what the application numbers look like this year for WashU, particularly given that they eliminated EDII this year. Did the EDII elimination increase their EDI applications? Did Ivy ED rejects opt to EDII at other schools (such as Tufts, Emory..etc) instead of taking the risk of applying RD to WashU and being relegated to "wait-list oblivion".
