Number of APs?

As a Canadian students, we can only take AP courses in our senior year. The max is around 5 possible APs to take. Once I came on this website, however, I began to see that people have taken like 9 APs. Do you guys take them in other years too? Will universities recognize that senior year was my only option?

In the United States, people can take AP tests and classes during any of the four years of high school. Some schools have some restrictions, but not usually the same as your school.

Are you interested in going to a college in the US? And, do most high schools in Canada have the same policy for APs as yours?

At my school the most anyone takes is 5-6 (1 junior year, 4-5 senior year). It really depends on the rules at the school (mine doesn't allow them freshman/sophomore years) and colleges know that.

Yeah, I'm interested in going to school in the states. I think most Canadian schools, however this may exclude some private schools, do have the same policy. Basically, in Grade 11 you take "honours" courses, and then whatever you took as honours in Grade 11 you can take as AP in Grade 12. Most Canadian schools don't even have APs, however. Our schools only options are Calc, Physics, Biology, Chemistry, English and Computer Science for APs. I took Calc, Physics, Chemistry, English and Bio in AP. We're on a linear system so you take to a maximum of eight courses at once and all of your exams are at the end of the year. For "regular" courses, i'm taking History, and also French in immersion, which is a Canadian program that's kind of hard to explain.
