Number of Bs

Does anyone know anybody who got in with 8~ Bs? Is 8 kind of an automatic throw-out?

PG: you’re basically asking if a person with ~ 3.67 GPA gets admitted. Search through the results thread and see how this type of person fares. Or better yet, go to Columbia admissions webpages and see their discussion on what are evaluation factors. Unless your 8xB person can otherwise bring a remarkable talent/ability to campus – they have zero chance.

How much would a 2400 and second place in international piano competition help? UW is ~3.75 and W is ~4.4

… another “chance me” post. There’s nothing to be said. It’s all guesswork. And no one will be able to give you more than their opinions. Take your chances. Good luck.

I got in 5 years ago as a hookless non-URM 3.6UW/2400 on ED so it’s possible but requires luck.

Masochist- which school was it, and what do you think really got you in? I saw you got a 2400 on your SAT…

Not sure. One thing I can say is not all GPA means the same. A lower GPA generally can be compensated by a heavy courseload relative to your high school (or if your high schools is really good/tough, which is rare). I would guess my admissions was a combination of a tough courseload, the 2400 and the fact that I was ED.
