What is the average number of credit hours a student in an animal science major, looking to go to vet school, takes per year?

I’d assume they’d take a normal course load (i.e. 30 credits for a 120 credit degree). Anything less might not be competitive, or might leave them ill-prepared for the course load at vet school.

Well, I’m about to be an incoming freshman at Rutgers University doing Animal Science/Pre-Vet, and I’m so far taking 17 credits assuming I get placed into either my first choice electives, Microecon or Psych. If I don’t, I’m going to be taking 18, because French Fundamentals is four credits instead of three, like the former two. Also, if I get into the chemistry or biotechnology seminars I requested, I’ll be at 18/19 credits, so it all depends on availability!

Okay, thank you!
