Do you think it will be to much if i take 4 Ap classes junior year...i already took 1 sophmore year but people are telling me only take one or 2.....the ones i wanna take are AP us history, bio, environmental, and english...please help thanks

For UCLA, last year (you need to check because this could change), you needed a 680 on the SAT Writing to place out of the writing course requirement. Check with UCLA if this continues to be the case. What are you going to major in? Look and see which AP classes will give you credit with a high enough score. I don't recommend taking 4 AP classes junior year because the grades are critical for college applications. Also, you want to devote some time on other things (extra curriculars) which will help your application. Which AP did you take soph. year? Try to take something in another subject area which interests you.Don't take anything unless you really want to learn that subject. Make sure you fulfill the A-G requirements.
My son took 3 APs which was really max for his time because he did other things (community service, extra curriculars).

I took ap world soph year and i want to major in political science

AP US is worth taking, and generally replaces your school's regular history class, which is good. AP Bio is a ton of work so if you don't really like bio, or don't have a good AP teacher, or don't have a few friends taking that class with you, think twice. AP Environmental at my school was the "slacker" AP class (my AP Chem teacher always teased them when they came in to collect recycling...), but it could vary so who knows. I like AP English because it actually gives you a challenge, and gets you away from your school's regular English classes which can be hit-or-miss.

In sum- if you take two, take US and English. If you take three, also choose one of bio and environmental- but which science do you really like? Two sciences is a bit overkill. Don't take four just because you can. Instead of a fourth AP class, try a non-AP elective. Or continue a language. Or do band. Whatever else floats your boat. Life isn't all about APs!

For the record, I took 3 APs as a junior, and 4 as a senior (none as a sophomore, I wasn't interested in Euro and we didn't have AP World). That was about the heaviest load I would ever recommend lol.

To be honest, if u are interested in the subjects it should be no problem.

I took 4 my junior year, and i had lots of free time.

My senior year I am taking 6, and i still get lots of sleep, play lots of video games, go out occasionally during weekdays, always on weekends, and i have all A's. It isn't about the number of classes you take that will determine how well you do, its about how well you manage your time.

sometimes its not even time management...some high schools are just so damn easy. im taking 4 AP's as a senior and i never had to do much homework at home throughout the year...always at school. i seriously just play games, browse forums, talk on aim, and watch tv/anime every single school day. even this semester, when i thought i was gonna get a bunch of B's and possibly even a C, it turns out that im probably gonna get all A's again...

I'm a senior and I'm taking 5 AP classes this year. I thought it was manageable even in first semester with college applications and basketball season. But it all depends on how well you can manage your time, how efficient you are at absorbing the material, etc.

I'm taking biology this year and I did not spend any time on it after school besides cramming the day before the tests/quizzes. This may not be the best indicator of the workload, since we basically get preprinted lecture notes and we just have to copy down information from the powerpoint.

As for AP US History (APUSH at my school), it was the class I regret not having taken the class. We have a superb APUSH teacher who just loves teaching and the kids, and my friends who took it have told me it was the defining class for their high school career.

i took 4 ap classes in both my junior and senior year, and it was fine. as long as you have some interest in them, it really isnt too much work

i only took 2 ap classes my junior year. and i have 3 now as a senior. i'm going to UCLA. don't trip.
