Does GTown have a maximum number of recs they'll read? I am wondering this because I have a couple of teachers that would be willing to write incredible recs for me. How many should I send to them?

i sent 5 letters in total...2 from teachers and 1 from someone who could write in-depth about my extracurriculars...i also sent a letter from a councilman that i interned with over the summer, and my college counselor wrote a letter...i dont know if they read all 5, but at least they had them if they wanted to read em...who knows what goes on in admissions offices. id rather know that i sent all that i could, but thats just me

Yeah, my total would be six

1 from Guidance
1 from Math Teacher (Dept. Chair)
1 from History Teacher (Dept. Chair)
1 from Science Teacher (Dept. Chair)
1 from my AP English Teacher
1 from my French Teacher (Essential as he is going to be tutoring me in AP French and end explaining to SFS why I only have 3 years of French [The reason being that I couldn't fit it into my scheduel]).

so send them all...if they dont read them all, oh well, but it cant hurt to send them...and i had the same problem with russian...i couldnt take a 4th year of it because of scheduling conflicts, and i made sure to explain that at my interview

I only sent in the two and was accepted. Quite honestly until I read this thread it never ever occurred to me to send more. I had taken the ap exams in US Hist and Bio so those are the two teachers I asked for recs. I figured that since they had taught me in AP classes they would be able to talk about my ability to handle challenging classes.

I'm not sure about sending extra ones in. On the one hand I guess it most likely can't hurt, but on the other I think that two really meaningful recs are better than a handful of fluff ones. Also, you run the risk of annoying the person reading your file which probably isn't a great idea.

Edit: Posted Double

Whoops

I agree cold comfort they might annoy someone reading my application, but I don't think they would be fluff ones. My French one is essential. My Science one is from a teacher who knows me on a very personal level, thanks to one ec I do. My History one is from the advisor of my Model Congress Club, which is going to be the club I feature in my application short essay. And that English one is going show my ability to handle difficult Advanced Placement classes(the only AP I was able to take this year). I guess its time to call up the admissions office.

As far as I know, it's a maximum of 4 teacher recommendations.

I sent in two and got in.
Maybe save the rest for in case you got deferred/waitlisted?

Thats a good idea, yeah I think I'll do that

I only sent in one since the application packet I got from Georgetown only had one teacher rec form and I got in.

I sent two teachers and a supplemental from my school's president and got in. Three or four is probably a good number.

Sent one plus the guidance counselor one for early action, got deferred, and then added a supplemental one later

I sent in my application at first without a recommendation, then in mid-February they reminded me and I freaked out. I mustered up one, had my teacher fax it over, and they said it was okay. I got in.
