Hello :)
Sorry if this has already been answered, but I heard the freshman class is being expanded this year--is that true?
I think I read somewhere that there are about 800 freshmen atm, but I was confused because since Rice received 10,800+ apps this year, won't that make their acceptance rate less than 10% when their usual rate is about 20%+?
Any answers would be appreciated--thanks in advance!

I know they are expanding their class (I think it's something like 150 or more....not positive on that number though). Rice will actually accept a few thousand students but not all those who are accepted to go Rice.

I believe the administration is shooting for 850 students, so there won't be a dramatic increase this year.

thank you both!
:)

montecristo09, Rice accepts a lot more students than the number they have for their freshmen class. Usually more than half of the accepted students will opt for other schools rather than coming to Rice. (That applies to other schools as well)

Do you know what percentage receive a likely letter from the "accepted" batch of students?
