Can anyone tell me some good and bad things about the Nursing major at Fairfield University?
Thanks!

I’ll be a freshmen next year at Fairfield. I can tell you some of the reasons why I chose it. First of all, it was one of the few schools where the program was actually direct entry, and had clinicals sophomore year (I mostly applied to a bunch of Texas public schools by the way). It’s NCLEX pass rate is really high, I think 95% last year. The class has 95 students in it - I’m not sure how competitive it is to get in, I’ll ask somebody this weekend and let you know.

I know Fairfield has the SIM-Man robots to practice on. The clinicals are done at nursing homes, hospitals, etc., (I know for sure) at surrounding areas like Bridgeport, also over at Yale-New Haven, and NYC.

There are study abroad opportunities specifically for nursing students. One is in Managua, Nicaragua where you’ll study at Uneversidad de CentroAmerica. It is offered in either Spring or Summer. There are also opportunities to go to Galway, Ireland and or Florence, Italy - I plan on figuring out how many can a nursing student schedule without delaying their graduation date.

And finally, the nursing students I met during Orientation seem very motivated and excited - even when they have a very hard course load. They all seem to have very strong, close relationships with each other. Their attitude was certainly infectious, because I honestly can’t wait to start.
