Nursing

If I maintain the 3.0 GPA needed and complete all the prerequisites to apply into nursing, am I assured to be accepted into nursing? Thanks!

Hello! I am also a prospective nursing student. Getting into UB does not mean you get into nursing. At the spring semester of your sophomore year you apply to the nursing program. Maintaining a 3.0 GPA would be very low considering the rigor of the program.
**The ONLY way to be assured a seat in the Nursing program from your first day at UB is through the Honors College, which you needed to apply to by January 5 for priority decision, however it is still open and acceptances are on a rolling basis. Additionally, Honors Scholars must maintain a 3.3 Grade Point Average (GPA) during the first year and at least a 3.5 GPA in each successive year to graduate with an overall GPA of 3.5.
That is why I consider a 3.0 low…also the Honors College is NOT to be taken lightly, as there is a lot of work that you must do to maintain a seat (internships, research, independent studies, additional classes, etc…)
Lastly, like all programs, if you do not do well or are failing (but that is unlikely because UB has GREAT advisement, you will be asked to leave both the program and Honors College).

Let me know if you have any additional questions!
