Nursing

Is the school of nursing easier to get into compared to LSA? Does anyone know the average SAT/GPA for the school of nursing?

The reason I ask this is because a friend of mine plans to apply to nursing next year under the impression that it is much easier to get into, which I find hard to believe.

Nursing is looking for a different sort of applicant. It may be less selective in some ways, but tougher in others. I think students are expected to have had a certain level of science, for example.

If your friend means for it to be "back door" admission into the U, and he or she has no desire to actually major in nursing, I don't advise it. First of all, the admissions folk aren't morons and they are wise to the fact that some students may try this. Your friend would have to present as someone truly interested in nursing. Secondly, the professional curriculum in Nursing starts immediately. Your friend would be taking some nursing-oriented courses during the one or two terms before transfer. At best, he or she would be wasting time on credits that won't help the desired degree; at worst, he or she would struggle (due to lack of interest) and have a harder time presenting oneself as a good cross-campus transfer applicant.
